Funny how a silly comment from a clearly envious moron 10 years ago can still sting. Why do we let this be true? One person out of thousands, and why is his/her remark the one we remember?! We all do it, but why?!

DeleteMany years ago I knitted a charcoal grey cardigan for my brother. I was going to use simple pewter buttons, until I saw pewter buttons embossed with a leaping stag, at a higher price than I wanted to spend. The buttons were perfect for my brother and for the sweater. I bought them and have never told anyone how much I spent on BUTTONS! The sweater would have looked fine with the original ones, but it would never have been right in my mind. No regrets!

DeleteWhoever takes the time to make a comment like that needs to get a life, not you. Making something takes a lot of time and effort, so of course you want it to match your vision! This sweater is precious, and the buttons are perfect.

DeleteI just knitted the same sweater pattern for a co-workers baby and it has sat languishing because I couldn't decide on the right buttons. I LOVE the buttons you chose. Now to find them. :-) (I have a life) ;-)

DeleteYears ago my mother told me that the buttons can make the garment. I think of her every time I pick buttons for a sweater and try to make it special. Why spend the time to make something and stick any old button on it! AND I do have a life, a good one!
