one at a time
Thursday, July 13, 2017What kind of knitter are you? One at a time? Two at a time? As many as you like at a time?
For years I have been a one project at a time kind of girl. I start a project. Work completely on that project until it is finished. Then, start another project.
The most I veer off that path is when I have one big project, and maybe a pair of TOAST on the needles, for the road.
And, it's pretty much making me a little crazy.
Honestly, I have been feeling a little scattered lately and I am now concluding that it is my knitting! :)
But seriously. I really think it is.
So, I have vowed to work on only one project at a time.
The woodstock tank. (Almost finished.)
The Byron Bay Cardigan.
The 100x simple cowl.
The windswept shawl.
Two at a time 3x1 rib socks.
Ahhhh. I'm already feeling more focused and organized.

I'm a multiple projects at one time kind of person!
ReplyDeletei admire you, judy! xx
DeleteI totally need to do this. If I looked at it honestly, I bet it is my multiple knitting projects that make me feel "scattered", exactly as you say, all the time.
ReplyDeletetoo many other distractions in our life! :) we need knitting to be our yoga. xx
DeleteI would say I usually have at least two on the go. I think I like having both a complicated project and an easier mindless project on the needles at once. But I agree with you that it can start to feel overwhelming if we take on too many projects at once. Glad you feel more at peace now!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, lisa. always a mindless knit! xx
DeleteI hear you, I was always a one project at the time person and then this year I had like 5 projects up and running and I felt so restless lol, back to one project at the time now and simply enjoy knitting instead of rushing through the day with 5 projects on my mind.
ReplyDeleteoh so happy to hear there are others just like me, sandra! xx
DeleteI mostly knit one at a time, but sometimes I need to put a large project aside to make room for minor projects - usually if there's a birthday coming up or a friend is having a baby.
ReplyDeleteoh yes. i will leave room for a special occasion knit to move up the line, too. that's what it is all about. xx
DeleteI resemble that photo. It doesn't bother me to have many things going at a time but I do notice when I focus on one at a time, more gets done. Your usual style may be why you get so many garments done.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I only knit one project at a time. I have limited "free" time so I have a different kind of dilemma...hmmm, do I knit, sew, read, garden, cook, kayak or practice the piano today? I'll never understand how some people are "bored!" Please give me more time in every day! :) Good luck finishing up all your WIPs, Leslie! You can do this! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI have too many projects that I get super excited about, then feel overwhelmed and try to focus on 1 or 2 plus a pair of socks (always a pair of socks). :). But too many projects and I don't feel like I am finishing anything nearly fast enough.
