our made gifts

As I mentioned, for our family gift giving, I decided to throw our five names into a hat. Each person choosing one name. One name, one handmade gift.
Apparently my family has a thing for sticks. I didn't get the memo.

I am in love with this gift. And the word Charlie chose to paint. Stay. It really is a wonderful word.

Very interesting this gift giving ritual and on choosing a theme.

DeleteI love this! One year, when I was little, my mom said "we are having a homemade Christmas." We had to make one gift for one person. We strung popcorn and cranberries for the tree and we made homemade ornaments. It really stuck with me and I almost always make at least one homemade gift each year. This year it was fleece blankets for both of my kids, which they loved. Should've taken a photo.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year :)
awe. that is exactly how i feel about Christmas because of my childhood, too! LOVE giving handmade. there is something so special about making someone something! xx
DeleteLove this...handmade always makes the best gifts!!! My 8 year old granddaughter Googled "gifts to make for Mommy for Christmas." She found a sleep mask she loved, downloaded the template, then proceeded to find a YouTube tutorial for the "how to." She cut it all out (2 layers of fabric and one of quilt batting)and only needed my help for the machine stitching. She decided to make one for Daddy, too, and wouldn't look at even one gift from Santa until she gave her gifts with so much love. This little girl gets it!
