start again

It took me 7 weeks to get to this point in this sweater.
And 24 minutes to get to this point.
I knew it. The entire time I was knitting that it just felt too big. I decided to take it off the needles and try it on for size.  I was right.  Tooooooo big.
I stared at it for an entire day.  And then did what we all sometimes need to do.
I cast on again last night.

Happy Knitting!

  4. oh, I feel your pain- I just ripped out about 1/3 of a sweater I was knitting for my daughter, it was clear it was too big. Oh well, better to fix it now than to finish it and have it be unwearable, right?

I ripped out and started TWICE my Acer cardigan. Third time is working much better. Though I ended up unknitting a good portion of a cable chart too. But now I feel much better about the project...and I learned a lot about the stitch construction.

  6. Leslie, as one who's unraveled quite a few of my own rows recently, I know what you mean about making that decision.

But...aren't you glad to have the chance of the new beginning that will turn out very well?

I also want to pass along good wishes to you with regard to that house sale featured in your prior post. I've never quite had the nerve to buy a first home, so you may take me for a true scaredy-cat...but a well-wishing scaredy cat. xo

  8. Just like in poker, ya gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. I'm glad to see your needles are clicking again.

  12. Ugh! I know that can be frustrating. I hope you have better luck with the re-do.

  13. Ugh, ripping is the WORST. But then, once you have a beautiful finished sweater that fits, you'll forget it ever happened. (Like childbirth, I guess?)

  14. It will so be worth it - it always is. I have many, many times kept knitting when I know that I shouldn't!

  16. Ahhhh, I tried to knit this jumper but had to pull back because it was too confusing to me. I know for a pro like you that may sound silly, but short rows are so intimidating to me!
