the lilly brush
Friday, March 08, 2013
Save our sweaters? Yes, please! I need something to do just that. I get so bummed when my sweaters pill. Who doesn't! Especially our hand knit beauties. All that hard work, time and love, and then they can look old and worn with just a few wears. Ugh.
I have tried several things to de-pill but when I tried the Lilly Brush, I fell in love. It's so gentle. No razor to cut the fibers. Just a gentle stroke and off come the "balls".
I tried to photograph one of my "balliest" hand knit sweaters. I also have cashmere and for some reason, I feel like the newer cashmere sweaters pill easier than my old ones.
Truly. This thing is my new favorite toy! The Lilly Brush works on lint and removing pet hair, too. It can be used on all natural fibers including cotton, wool, cashmere, angora, hemp and alpaca. It's hand washable, fits in your purse, and will last for years. AND, it comes in two colors.
The sweet peeps over at the Lilly Brush would like to save your sweaters! They would like to giveaway a lilly brush to one of my readers. Please leave a comment before Monday, March 11, 5 pm EST, and I'll have the random generator choose a number/name.
And if you just can't wait to get those sweaters looking like new you can order one here. You'll be having fun in no time! (I pretty much think every knitter should have a lilly brush. And non knitters, too!)
Enjoy your weekend!

ReplyDeleteI think my socks would appreciate being spruced up.
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at my favorite sweater yesterday, thinking I really needed to get rid of the pills. Include me please.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this on my handknits, and a boiled wool blazer. The best part is-no batteries!

ReplyDeletePilling is no fun!! Hope I win this
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gadget.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!!! I really need one of those!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this! I bet your newer cashmere sweaters are pilling more easily because the quality of cashmere has been changing. Partly this is because it is more popular and growers aren't all focusing on quality - at least not all are.
ReplyDeleteAngelbis

ReplyDeleteI've been looking for the perfect tool to do this! I hope I win!

ReplyDeleteThis sound like a great idea! I think I need one
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! I have been looking for a "de-pill-er". My husband bought me a gorgeous wool sweater for Christmas which I wore repeatedly because it was so warm and comfy for winter! However, after just a few wears, it has already pilled up. We are both disappointed. I would love to restore it to looking like new.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for something gentle enough to deal with a fine gauge cashmere sweater; maybe this is it! Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteGood to know you give it a thumbs up. I was just mentioning to my husband that we needed some type of sweater razor/saver!
ReplyDeleteThe before and after pictures are so dramatic! I'd find plenty of uses for this.
ReplyDeletehah! i've been complaining about this very thing lately! great to hear about an effective option! i'd love to give the lilly brush a go. thank you both!

ReplyDeleteThis is genius. I used to have one of those battery operated sweater pill shavers. Yeah, that's embarrassing to admit. Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have about 10 sweaters that could use that brush, thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteI would love to win the Lilly Brush to replace that awful sweater "razor" that does not work. This looks great.

ReplyDeleteI must have one of these ; ) you would understand if you saw a picture of my big hairy yet loveable dog.
I would love to make quick work of removing pills on some of my sweaters. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYes please! I have a sweater shaver but I've never been terribly impressed with it. This one looks promising and it doesn't use batteries!
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in this tool - I've always been too scared to hold a battery-operated cutting thing too close to my knitwear. This seems like a much better approach!
ReplyDeleteI saw this in a recent knitting magazine (Vogue, I think), and I wondered to myself if this was too good to be true. After your glowing review, I am going to have to try this out!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to give that a try.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great product!
ReplyDeleteWould love to try it!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I need one of these. I've been de-pilling by hand!
ReplyDeleteI really could use a lily brush. I have several sweaters that have started to pill. It would be nice to clean them up.

ReplyDeleteSuch an awesome give-away! I have so many sweaters that this would save.
ReplyDeleteOh, I need one of these. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteInteresting - I live with the pills for fear of taking blades to sweaters, esp cashmere. I just spent a great deal of time trying to painstakingly repair a girlfriend's beloved cashmere sweater that got eaten by an electric pill shaver.
ReplyDeleteRemoves both pills and pet hair? Yes, please! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great product, I'd love to give it a try!

This seems pretty brilliant! I have a shaver, but it runs on batteries which isn't very efficient. I'm also a little afraid of all the fibers catching fire!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, yes! I need one of those! I haven't found anything that really works well, and my kiddos sweaters especially always get very pill-y.
ReplyDeleteoh yes please!
ReplyDeleteI have tried nearly everything on the market, and I'm not satisfied with the results.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win the brush.
Oh - I've love one of those, I'm forever picking fuzz off my favourite sweater!
ReplyDeleteThat is a brilliant device, and I would love to own one.
ReplyDeletepet hair AND pills! Count me in.
ReplyDeleteNeat! This looks great. I've been disappointed with both my Sweater Stone and my sweater shaver.
ReplyDeleteI need one of these!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a must have!
ReplyDeleteCool! I have used various sweater depilling tools and I have discovered that every sweater is so unique that what works on one does not do anything for another. I would love to try a new tool :)
ReplyDeleteI do have some pilly sweaters and socks, but you had me at "pet fur." 2 dogs and 3 cats - yes, please!
ReplyDeleteOh! For sure! My husband has a bunch of sweaters that pill like crazy! I've tried those little shavers, and they just don't work very well. I'd love one. :)
