a gift for a friend
Monday, July 25, 2011I have been knitting. Promise. Just slow going for some reason. (Um, hello summer.)
I really liked this pattern (Lace Motif Cardigan out of this book) and adore the finished sweater. Again, a little detail is just enough to keep it interesting. I made the size 6 months. The pattern called for 3 balls of Cascade 220 Superwash (where was that yummy yarn when my children were babies!) however, I only used 2 balls. Actually, less than 2. (Color 914A.)
Just wait till you see what I'm finishing up to go with it. (Not going to bed until I do.)

ReplyDeleteAdorable! She'll love it!
ReplyDeleteI will always remember your story about knitting by the pool. Summer slows down knitting and blogging but speeds up time with family and friends. I can't wait to see what you have to go with the adorable sweater.
ReplyDeleteadorable....love the detail on the front and that color is precious. can't wait to see what is going with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, little sweater. Can't wait to see what kept you up. That's the sort of motivation I need!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky friend you have! The sweater is beautifully knit, in such a classic style and totally contemporary color. I can just about feel the touch of the yarn from your photo.
ReplyDeleteWow!
I love the sweater! I grabbed that book off the shelf like lightening the moment it first appeared and it now has little sticky-note tabs waving at me from almost every page, including the one with this pattern. At the same time I bought 2 skeins (all the lys had) of colorway #9860 of the 220 Superwash Paints. Love the colors! It just might look good made up in this sweater. I have my youngest granddaughter (7) here for a week and we are doing some sewing, as well as shopping, baking, etc. so no time for knitting at the moment. Maybe some day - after I recover! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute pattern!
ReplyDeleteyes!!! im making the same!!! i think in the same color
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I have this book and I think it might have to be the next in line for knitting! Love the color too. What does the tag say? Where did you get it?
ReplyDeletevery cute sweater and i can't wait to see what you are doing with your leftover yarn....i will be watching for your next post!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! It would be even better in blue for a boy :o)
ReplyDeletedont beat yourself up leslie! things like knitting slow up in summer...i blame it on where we live! the winters are so long, that i feel like in summer everything kicks into turbocharged gear! instead of a slow lazy summer, you are trying to cram everything in! goodness knows when the chill returns, the knitting will speed right up! :)
ReplyDeletesuper cute! and now i want to know what else you are working on.
ReplyDeleteI miss knitting, but I've been having pain in my left forearm, so I'm taking another break. Wish I knew how to avoid it...
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little pink sweater.

ReplyDeleteThis color is fabulous and the sweater is just perfect. They have some adorable patterns in that book!
ReplyDeleteHave you gone to sleep yet? Can hardly wait to see what you are making to go with the sweater. :-)

ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous cardigan!
ReplyDeletecheck out my blog: http://onerowblog.blogspot.com
I love this sweater and booties and bought the book because I was inspired for our first little one on the way. I don't have a great yarn store in my area so I was thinking of buying Cascade Superwash online. My only hesitation is that nearly all the wool I have encountered in the past has not been very soft. I love soft yarns with no "itch" factor. What do you think of this yarn as far as softness goes?
