i finally made a laptop carrier
Sunday, April 17, 2011This project has been in the back of my mind for some time. Almost two years, to be exact.
My beloved laptop has been carried around in a bulky carrier. One that came inside a bag I got on super sale at Staples. It was cumbersome and not so cute, really.
I honestly don't know what took me so long. Especially since this is a pretty quick project. (And, because I love my computer so much.) A project that can be made in an afternoon. Or an evening. Or a morning.
I purchased a walking foot a while ago which was very useful for this project since you are sewing through a lot of layers. The outside fabric was something I purchased from Leslie back when she had her goodness shop. (Oh, how I miss that shop.)
Can you see the tip of my thumb? I was trying on colors for my toes. It was down to purple or navy. After much thought and consideration (numerous texts to my sister) I went with the blue. It makes me so happy to look at my toes. I think it's true, yoga-ta get this blue!

ReplyDeleteNice work on the carrier. The flannel that carried your babies, will not carry your laptop- cute.

ReplyDeleteI'm still carrying mine in a big old ugly black bag but for now it will have to suffice as my to do list is so long. Yours is perfectly wonderful especially with the swaddle blanket inside.
ReplyDeleteleslie, this is so lovely! and i love that you used a swaddling blanket for the inside...i've got lots of swaddling blankets that i've been wanting to do something with so that i can see them every day, instead of forgetting about them in a box somewhere...i was thinking a little quilt or something...but you know, a laptop cover is definitely something that really is used every single day...what a genius idea + so creative!
ReplyDeleteBlue toes! That seems pretty cool! Love your laptop carrier!
ReplyDeleteWhat timing! I just got my new laptop today and was going to begin looking for a cute sleeve. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteI love sewing with fabrics with sentimental value! I just made number two son a cot sheet out of the worn remains of one of my old flannel bedsheets, and it pleases me so much :)

I've had this on my list forever, too. Maybe you've inspired me to actually do it - carrying the poor thing around in a tote bag is not really the best choice!
ReplyDeleteSwanky I say! Enjoy the beach!
ReplyDeleteThat has to be the cutest laptop carrier I have ever seen. I really need to pick up sewing again. It's been so long...Hope it's like riding a bike. :) Plus I have an over abundance of receiving blankets from my little ones that are no longer being used.
