who doesn't love a popsicle?
Thursday, June 10, 2010Okay. I just had to share our favorite new obsession. I first saw this pop maker when Martha posted it. We used it a little last summer, however, never finding the perfect "recipe". I played around a little with a recipe I found in "body and soul" (I think), changing it a bit, and found one we all love. It makes a perfect amount that fits into the 10 molds. Oh, and I must admit the metal top is a little tough to get off. But totally worth it. (Just run hot water over it.)
1 1/2 cups vanilla rice milk::1 banana::1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen berries (we like a mix) and 1/4 cup agave syrup. Puree in blender until smooth. Pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze.

ReplyDeleteThose look great! One of our old stand-bys is really simple: fresh OJ, plain yogurt, a splash of vanilla (you can water it down a bit, if it seems too thick). Tastes sort of creamsicle-ie.

ReplyDeleteWe love to make popsicles here too! Our recipe of choice for the moment is a banana or two, a ripe peach or nectarine, a big handful of organic blueberries and apple juice.

We are getting ready to take the big historical va-ca to Gettysburg on Sat. and Sun. Tell Bob if he gets bored this weekend, pop the kids in the car and meet us. ReplyDeleteYUM! They look delicious AND nutritious! Thanks so much for the recipe. My grandma used to put yogurt into dixie cups, put a stick in, freeze, and peel off the cup for frozen yogurt pops. I think she did it so we'd have something more healthy than ice cream bars, but that Yoplait has a lot of sugar in it! Anyway, I can still remember the texture and flavor...one of my favorite memories of childhood summers.

ReplyDeleteOoh, we love making popsicles here! I like that that popsicle maker makes 10 at a time, unlike the 4 pc. ones that I have... though I do like the reusable sticks/handles with the little sippers on them for the youngsters who can't eat them before they melt! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour recipe sounds yummy! I've never thought to use rice milk in something frozen, but I have had Rice Dream ice cream so I guess it would work pretty well!
Now I need something cold :-)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe! Yours is the 2nd blog I've read in 5 minutes sharing popsicle recipes. I must buy some molds, as I'm anxious to try theirs and your recipes. I discovered agave syrup in my supermarket several months ago, quite by accident. It is my new favorite sweetener. :-)

Have you ever considered including a little bit bit more than simply your ideas? I imply, what you say is essential and everything. However its obtained no punch, no pop! Maybe should you added a pic or two, a video? You may have such a extra highly effective weblog if you let folks SEE what youre speaking about instead of simply studying it.
