Saturday, January 30, 2010Good morning last Saturday in January. Nice to see you.
I spotted these cookies over here and they have been calling my name ever since. Again, in an attempt to satisfy all cookie lovers in my family, I doubled the recipe and divided it in half. Half the dough got regular semi-sweet chips and a roll in raw sugar. The other half got mint chocolate chips and a roll in confectioners sugar. I feel like I say this a lot, however, these were AMAZING! And the dough? Well, let me just say that this dough is some of the best dough I have ever tasted. Which is huge because if given the choice I always choose vanilla over chocolate. The melted butter, along with the other ingredients, results in warm, melt in your mouth, absolutely can't stop eating, cookie dough.
I pulled out the sewing machine on Thursday and it felt really great. My sister asked if I would make her bible study girls tissue cozies. (Thanks, Julie! :) ) I make a small change to the tutorial...I like to overlap the top piece.... so I cut two 6x4 pieces and two 6x4 1/2 pieces. I sort of drug my heals at this request but after I got started, loved it. It was the perfect little project to bring back my sewing mojo. Although, I will not let myself sew another thing until I finish this sweater.

Long time lurker, leaving a comment finally. Those cookies look so good! I, too, have been getting my sewing mojo back this week. I sewed one of your package pillows this week to dress up a gift card for a birthday party my daughter is attending today. I want to thank you for posting this pattern - it really makes a gift card very special. MJ

Thanks for the link to the cookie recipe. They look delicious! They're going on my Super Bowl menu.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if January is the month for chocolate or something. I, too, prefer vanilla, but made some chocolate cookies a couple of days ago that were absolutely to die for. They had peanuts in them, and sea salt on top, and with what was left of the batter, which I could not stop eating, I made what were hailed by my non-chocolate loving children as the best cookies they'd ever tasted. So it must be something in the air.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look delicious, either way.
ReplyDeleteWe're on the same page today. I resumed a quilt I had been working on and have some cookies planned. Such a nice way to spend a snowy Saturday (at least here there is snow).
ReplyDeleteI've mixed up the dough for these cookies (thanks for the link) and I've already made the 4 ingredient peanut butter cookies that they also have over there. SenSATional!!!!

those cookies look great...I'm gonna have to try that recipe. I made some of those at Christmas time but the recipe called for cinnamon and nobody really liked them. These sound wonderful. Your tissue cozies are fabulous...I think I'd like to be in your sister's Bible study group too! Where did January go?
ReplyDeleteI made them - yummmmmm!
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I finally made the oatmeal, raisin, chocolate chip cookies today (double recipe) and they went so fast that i ran to grab the camera before they were gone - all but 12 were eaten throughout the day. and now i come here and these look amazing - i will try these too - i wonder if i can get away with using whole wheat flour here too - so far it hasn't been a problem in any recipe. Love the fun colors you chose for the tissue cozies - the girls will love them!
ReplyDeleteHi1 Please, please don't take this as a criticism as I adore your blog and look forward to every new post. In this post you write "cozy's" - this should really be "cozies". We really only use apostrophes for ownership or abbreviations. If you want a plural, don't use an apostrophe. Sorry - it's the English teacher in me. And I got the sewing machine out today too, to make pencil cases. Thanks for the fab blog.
