cameras and cookies
Thursday, December 17, 2009So, those Nikon camera fairies are the best! Guess what I go back? My camera! After only three weeks. I guess it pays to cry, cause the nice girl wrote "rush" on it and they took her seriously. (hmm.. wonder if she wrote anything else? crybaby? and then I thought maybe she sent along the mitts as a bribe or a thank you, which, in that case would have been totally acceptable.) Or maybe they weren't that busy, but either way, I couldn't have been more thrilled.
This was the last photo that shutter took. Yeah, I know. I have no idea why I was photographing bowls in my kitchen either. That's just it. I take so many random photos throughout the day. The girl asked if I was a heavy shooter. Could I have pushed that shutter 100,000 times? That is the average amount of shots these shutters have in their lifetime. (I may have laughed...if I wasn't crying.) Absolutely. And then some. I'm the girl that takes pictures of bowls. Anyhow, I have a new shutter mechanism, a new aperture control unit, a new grip, motor and they updated the firmware and cleaned the imaging sensor. She said I should be good to go for another 100, 000 shots. Hallelujah.

You know what? I LOVE the picture of the bowls! They are so colorful, and I have a thing for mixing bowls - Jadite, Pyrex, Cobolt pottery - I seriously cant' get enough of them. Makes baking much easier, too!

I know why you took the picture of the bowls--because they look homey and inviting, all stacked up like that! I made your pumpkin/cinnamon chip cookies this week. Winner!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your camera is back! I got a little panic-y when I learned the shutter's life is only 100,000 shots--I take pictures of bowls, too so I must be getting there. Now...on to those peanut butter cups

Yay! - can't wait to see all the wonderful pictures you'll take! My vote is chocolate and peanut butter. These two are a major part of the food pyramid in my book - along with wine (did I say that?) Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYay for camera story happy endings!
ReplyDeleteAnd, um, yum! I need to make those peanut butter cups... after the kids are in bed... and not tell them...
Candy cane cookies are one of my husband's favorites. After 31 years of marriage I still feel like I haven't mastered them. You are suppose to divide the dough in 1/2. Half gets the food coloring, the other half is left plain. Roll 1 teaspoon of each color of dough on a lightly floured board into a 4"long strip. Place the strips side by side, press together lightly then twist, curve top for the handle. bake 9 min or until lightly browned. Remove while still warm, sprinkle with mixture of 1/2 cup crushed peppermint stick candy and 1/2 cup sugar.
ReplyDeleteMy husband doesn't want the peppermint he just likes the two colors and the shape of the candy cane.
