it's no mystery
Thursday, November 05, 2009My mystery socks are taking me a little longer than expected. I guess I just enjoyed the pattern so much, I didn't want to stop. Time to rip.
Have a great day!
Hi. My name is Leslie and my day is not complete without a little knitting.

Isn't it so easy to get in the groove knitting socks? Not easy to get that perfect fit anyway. Have fun doing it again :-).
ReplyDeletewell, I've recently done something similar, but I'll blame mine on gauge interpretation. While knitting socks for hubby I made the foot 14" long instead of 12"! I kept thinking they looked a little big...
ReplyDeleteFrogging makes you a stronger person :)
ReplyDeleteoops!
ReplyDeleteOh no!
ReplyDeletei'm just laughing...i wear a size 10 and i couldn't wait to get to the place where i could stop and there you are just rolling right along. love that color...very nice...very wearable!
ReplyDeleteUh oh! Besides the length difficulty, they sure look nice.
ReplyDeleteSeriously good for me to know you still rip.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain... though the socks look great!
ReplyDeleteYou are a better person than me! :)
ReplyDeleteI meant to ask you, can you not shrink them in any way without felting them?
I'm sorry but I am laughing. That picture is so funny. I like the color you chose for your socks. Very pretty. So glad to have mine done and I am so tempted to start another pair in a solid colored yarn.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! I'm getting close to that stage so I guess it's time to start coming up for a length check now and then.
ReplyDeleteLovely colour choice!
I get so tired of knitting the foot (only a problem knitting cuff down) that I am always checking that last couple of inches to make sure it is just barely long enough for me. I can't imagine knitting it longer by accident!
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteOoops!!

ReplyDeleteOMG I did exactly the same thing!
ReplyDeleteOh man!
ReplyDeleteAre they 100 percent wool? Could you shrink them? (I'm always looking for the easy way out...)
ReplyDeleteThe first pair of socks I ever knit were a "tad" bit on the big side. Kind of got caught up in the knitting and not paying attention to the length...I left them and now use them as my scuff around the house socks. This looks nice and once corrected will be perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Well, enjoying the pattern is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I hate it when that happens...
ReplyDeleteI was cruising on my socks, and then I stopped to knit a sweater, poor neglected socks...
Happy knitting-
ali
The pattern looks lovely! I want to knit some socks, too!
ReplyDeleteOh no! The sock is just gorgeous, though. All that nice texture.
ReplyDeleteI had the opposite problem. I am loving the sock so much I wanted to wear it already, even if it was just the one. I should have added another foot repeat but didn't. My sock *just* fits, if I finesse it on my heel and curl my toes just a little. =]
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm not a big sock knitter, but these I want to make. I have to say that I admire your "rip back" determination. This is the point where I chuck them into a bin never to be looked at again!
ReplyDeleteI really love those socks!
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me a bunch- I get knitting and I just don't stop and suddenly I have a super giant sock!
ReplyDeleteoops. :)
ReplyDeleteLove reading your blog - question, did you in the past have a recipe for 'peppered nuts"? If so, please let me know what month I can find it again.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

i would be happy to share the peppered nuts recipe........
Heehee! I sorta did the same thing with my size 5 feet. Luckily my friend with size 7s wanted them!
ReplyDeleteI think I would look for a likely larger footed candidate but then you have to part with your socks. I love them in grey.
ReplyDeleteYup, being an avid sock knitter I have been there and done that - several times. However, that pattern is awesome - I would want to keep knitting on as well :)
ReplyDeletetoo large or not, they look great!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Or send them to someone who has a bigger foot!
ReplyDeleteI would so not be frogging those, I'd be giving them to someone with a bigger foot--wayyy too lazy to redo an already finished sock!
ReplyDeleteOops! I really like the striped sock.
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That may be a great point to deliver up. I supply the ideas above as normal inspiration however clearly there are questions just like the one you deliver up where an important thing can be working in trustworthy good faith.
