the other five

Don't you just love being the first one up in your home? Nothing but the birds and your coffee and the sunrise. And to steal a couple of moments alone to knit or read or be. I know! It is the best.

So, here they are.  The remaining five.
Katie on the left, Beki on the right.
Chris.
Melissa on the left, Jona on the right.
I absolutely love how this quilt will have a part of these eleven women and I am forever grateful.  An added piece of their fabric, an embroidery detail, a french knot, an idea, a thought, a moment in their life.  And I will bring them all together and hopefully Libby will always be reminded of the love of giving and caring and creating.  As my friend, Ana, put it "Libby will most certainly love the quilt for the story that is 12 women sharing their talent and time becoming one little girls whispers and dreams".  I love that.

The squares are wonders of art and peaceful early mornings are divine.

Peace and sweet basil to you, Leslie, this new day!

  26. I'm almost always the first one up in the morning. It's a nice feeling, having that quiet time. On virtuous days, I use that time to go for a run. More often though, I read a bit, maybe make some coffee, and think about the coming day.

I think I love Chris' best. Circles!

  27. All the squares are a special reflections of the women who created them and within them is the connecting thread of the loving, talented mama who chose the pretty fabrics. Such a special thing! I can't wait to see the final product.

And oh, how sweet early mornings are. Everyday I make a point of getting up extra early so I can drink in some silence (and hot tea) before the workday really begins. Like a mini weekend every morning.

  33. Oh, I feel the exact same about waking up first. I HATE it when the little bastards get a jump on me.

Baseball update: Two hours in the 50 degree rain on a cold wet metal bench. Not sure what is worse - the pneumonia I'll be getting or the fact that everyone saw my hair turn into a frizzball fit to dust with!

What a treasure for Libby! I have a friend who did a similar thing for her kids before they were born. Aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, & friends all embroidered squares for a quilt. My friend put all the squares together in a fantastic quilt and, of course, it is her kids favorite lovey. There is something about a quilt that communicates love, comfort, and encouragement like nothing else.

YES! Early morning in my comfy lounge chair with a fleece blanket, a hot cup of coffee, a book or knitting~PURE HEAVEN!!! I can NOT understand these people who sleep until 10 or 11 and miss the very best part of the day. There is just nothing like watching the sun come up, the dew on the grass, the birds singing and NO KID NOISE YET!!! It makes you praise the Creator for sure!

I adore the colors in these quilt blocks! I am really into this orange thing everyone has going on these Can't wait to see your finished quilt! Libby is going to LOVE this, I know! ~Jan
