plisse
Thursday, May 28, 2009Well, your friend actually has some finished knitting to show you!
Plisse is my second Hanne Falkenberg style to make. I find the patterns to be interesting and the construction to be amazing. This was knit in one piece with only the sleeves seams to be finished. Although my ballerina's will always be my favorite you can bet this will get its fair share of wear.
Because the kits are not inexpensive (they are actually quite an investment) I wear them a lot. Mostly as a coat. And on size 3 needles this was not a fast knit. But certainly one I enjoyed working on. There were a couple of bumps in the road but after I figured a few things out it was smooth sailing. (Or should I say driving.)
With so much going on in the back, Jeeves was probably correct in telling me to leave that little problem I had alone.
I'm thinking you all will be the only ones to know. (shhh)

It turned out lovely! Love the toes :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It's inspiring...
ReplyDeleteyay for finishing a project! And don't worry, I won't tell a soul about that thing about the back, even though I can't even tell!
ReplyDeleteCute toes! You know i love feet pictures.
it's absolutely stunning! i can't even imagine the patience it would take to make one of these. well done, leslie!
ReplyDeleteand libby is becoming quite the photographer....
It is gorgeous! I love all the details and the color is beautiful!
ReplyDeletebeautiful on you! love it with your hair. great color choice!
ReplyDeletesomeday i'd love to try the ballerina, but there would have to be visits with you. you know... in case i have questions or want a glass of wine etc. maybe jane could start one too!
this is such a beautiful sweater! i appreciate what you wrote about wearing your not so inexpensive hand knit sweaters as coats - i've been hesitant to make the investment in a sweater for myself, but really, our weather is mild enough here that i often do wear sweaters and not coats. perhaps i'll take the jump.
ReplyDeleteLove the whole entire thing! Great job leslie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, lovely sweater! Such a gorgeous color, too. Beautiful job! I hope you wear it *all* the time. I loved looking at your Ballerinas, too -- just stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, you always pick nice patterns.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning!!
ReplyDeleteYou may have started a purple toe trend :)
It's gorgeous! The color, yarn and style really work well together. After so much work I'm sure you're satisfied to have such a great sweater.
ReplyDeleteYep, I think your amazingly talented daughter follows in mom's footsteps in art and composition. Great pics she took for you, of you!
ReplyDeletePurple is so good, isn't it, for that little bit of non-conformity, that shouts, "Radical, dude, life is a blast! Let's skyrocket outta here." OK, maybe too much of the lava lamp these past few days as I plug away in my creative alcove, but you'll totally understand. :)
The sweater is to die for...as you'll know from another little place we rendezvous.
Purple plums and gumdrops.
XXOO
That is absolutely beautiful. Maybe one day I'll tackle something like that too!
ReplyDeletethat's gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Leslie. It's so, so beautiful! I admire your tenacity for completing so many Hannes. I'm not sure it's for me! lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazingly beautiful.

ReplyDeletehave to find a new pair of brown flops!
hello to libby!
You never disappoint! The sweater is so GORGEOUS! The color as well as the workmanship are impeccable. It looks just fabulous on you. And Libby did a very professional job capturing your toes and your sweater! BRAVO to both of you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sweater! Absolutely stunning!!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd i love your toes ;)
i am now officially in love with plisse. as if i didn't have enough to knit!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely and worth it!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and a great color for you.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully. The perfect tender green for this time of year. And Jeeves was absolutely right (as usual!)
ReplyDeleteAnd I do the same with my toes. Pick one shade, and then rock it all summer long. I haven't decided on what colour yet. It's still sock-weather here...
What a beautiful sweater... and I love your toenail polish! Libby's photography is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's just gorgeous. I love the color on you. I must make a Hanna pattern in the future...
ReplyDeleteAndrea
Wow, this is so feminine and just gorgeous. I love seeing all your knitted projects, they are far from the normal, very unique!! Looking forward to seeing what you'll be making next.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find a lot of your patterns? They really are very different.
Lovely finished sweater, really, it's lovely. Very cute pics, even the feet, and I'm not a foot person... actually, I have an aversion to open-toed shoes. I may need to rethink that issue, and get some paint on my toenails. Maybe. Maybe...
ReplyDeleteDunno about the flip-flops though...
Back to the knitting, the happy knitting-
ali
That turned out wonderful! I love it! And even though you told us about the "mistake", I still can't see it. I might need to add this to my list of things I want to make.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and looks very wearable. It looks great dressed down, but I can totally envision it dressed up to.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great knit!
Wow, that is a really amazing sweater, and I can just see how much work it took! I'm very impressed, as always!
ReplyDeletewow, you've done it again -- another gorgeous hand knit! well done!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I love the spring green, and the shape is so neat. I'm with Jeeves -- no one will ever notice.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I like the idea of a signature nail polish color for the summer.
oh leslie! it's stunning. the color, the drape, all of it. you're inspiring me to pick up the needles again...
ReplyDeleteoh, wow! it suits you just perfectly. imagine, that hanne falkenberg designs can be bought even in Switzerland... So my next trip to Zurich will lead me to Vilfil, that sells ballerina kits...
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is gorgeous and in my favoritei color. I'm sure you'll get lots of use out of this one!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I love the color of the sweater and your toes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a flattering sweater on you and the color is so pretty too!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great sweater! Your knits are always so inspiring. It's been ages since I've attempted to knit a sweater for myself. This one is adorable. (P.S. I love the summer toes, too!)
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Gorgeous. Darn. I was hoping I wouldn't like it; it would help me resist a little better...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! It looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - love the color and the shape. Congrats on finishing - and those ballerinas are amazing, too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love this. It's beautiful and think I will be ordering a kit soon!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out great I wish I was as talented as you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, absolutely beautiful. Am trying to figure a way to justify buying the ballerina jacket kit. I love that knitting project. great toes too.
ReplyDeleteYour site has gotten me into knitting everyday and how I had missed it.
Wow, that turned out great! Knitting an adult sized sweater on 3s takes a serious amount of dedication. Good job!
ReplyDeleteYou can stick to one nail color all summer?! I'm too schizophrenic (sp?) to only pick one. ;)
completely gorgeous. seriously.
ReplyDeletethe green yarn is just perfect! and the fit looks fantastic. [and no sign of any whoopsy at the back to even worry about. :) ]
ReplyDeleteps thanks for the comment on my paper crane - tried to email you back but it bounced - sorry. :(
the pleats look amazing. a lot of patience is absolutely required for such a great sweater!
ReplyDeletei also love the green on you and the toes!
I really have nothing to add that all the other comments haven't already said ! It is lovely, well done , very flattering. I'm sure you will get lots of wear from it.
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is great...the color is one of my favorites. I cast on my first sweater last night so hopefully it will turn in to something that resembles a sweater!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sweater in a beautiful color. It looks great on you. I love how it flares. So pretty!

ReplyDeleteits gorgeous. i love the color and the bottom.
ReplyDeleteThat is smashing! I love the color!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! How wonderful to have to only seam the sleeves!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is beautiful! The toes are lovely!
ReplyDeleteit looks great. i have the mermaid h.f kit and you have given me the motivation to start it. love the purple toes.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful on you. I really like the color.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful - I love it! I really dig Hanne Falkenberg's stuff, though I have yet to knit anything by her. Really, I just watch others (you) knit them and swoon from a distance. Though this one - this one is wonderful - and I love the color you chose. Time to stop living vicariously? Hmmm....
ReplyDelete:D
it came out great!! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fabulous. Love the color, nobody will notice the back at all, in fact if you hadn't shown us earlier, I wouldn't notice it now. Love the purple toes. Enjoy the summer. g
ReplyDeleteit's AMAZING, Leslie. i love the color. i can't believe you knit something so substantial as a sweater on size 3 needles! you are my hero!!!
ReplyDeleteLeslie you have out-done yourself again!! I love it and the colour is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat is simply GORGEOUS! (I just finished a similar sweater -- the Diminishing Ribs Cardigan -- in the exact same color!) We Leslies think alike! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, i love this one Leslie. the color and fot are perfect. stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI usually knit pullovers, but since we've moved to an almost tropical climate this year, I think I might have to seriously consider your brilliant idea of knitting 'coat' sweaters. It does get chilly enough here for a jacket (although I made it all winter without needing an actual coat.)
I've been trying to figure out if the style suits you so well because you are tall? I'd love to think that it would work for me, but I'm only 5'4".
I really like the color. (And since finishing is my least favorite part of knitting, having only the sleeves to do sounds divine!)
Oh wow, stunning!!!! I almost started a linen/cotton project that needed sizes 1, 2 and 3 needles and I chickened out. Just decided I couldn't do it. Congratulations on your stick~to~it~ness! (there's a word for that which escapes me at the moment)
ReplyDeleteso gorgeous. perfect fit. impeccable workmanship. I enlarged the first photo and just stared at it for five whole minutes - i will probably return later to stare at it some more. your work is so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteoh leslie! it is so so gorgeous!!! i think you will get a ton of wear out of that! what an amazing knit!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really fantastic! I have a question, though - I've always LOVED the Hanne Falkenberg designs but been bummed that they only come as kits because the yarn seems sooo itchy. So my question is, does it soften up with wash and wear, or would I just have to wear it with a turtleneck all the time so it can't touch my skin?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sweater! The pattern quite different and original...and the color and fit is so pretty and flattering on you.
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful job you did!
ReplyDeleteOoo! It's beautiful and it looks fabulous on you.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing Leslie! And you wear it perfectly! you are a great knitter
ReplyDeleteWow, it turned out very well!
ReplyDeleteplisse is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI will add my compliments to everyone else's. Plisse turned out beautiful and the color is perfect.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am always so impressed with your sweaters, Leslie.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, some of these projects can be quite an investment, but with results like that it is well worth it.
I love it! So stylish! I agree with you on them being a worthy investment!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic on you! It's such a pretty knit with all those pleats!
ReplyDeletegorgeous. i can't get over how patient you are. : )
ReplyDeleteand by the way, what brand are those flip flops? i've been looking for a pair just like 'em.
: )

ReplyDeleteOH it's gorgeous! Looks fantastic on you.
ReplyDeleteThat shade of purple is one I have been looking for, for so long!

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! And who could resist purple toes? Not me!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! Congratulations!
ReplyDeletethe sweater looks great as do all of your finished projects!
ReplyDeletealso, the toes! i went au natural the last couple of years only to decide that this year i'm going to paint them...lots of PINK! i found a very reasonable sally hansen diamond strength "ruby sequin" it is wonderful & i love looking at my toes just to see it!
Beautiful! You did a wonderful job. I've wanted to do this kit for a long time but am very allergic to this yarn - would you care to sell your pattern?
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sweater! Wow - it is fabulous! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Fantastic! Just awesome and fits you wonderfully!
ReplyDelete(love the back detail work)
Gorgeous knitting, as always. Love the color and how it flares out just a bit. Cute toenails, too. I think I'm finally having to break down and cover up my ugly toes with some nail polish this summer.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! It looks so fantastic on you! Kudos to your budding photographer too!
ReplyDeleteI love the color. You did a fantastic job! Your blog makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous sweater! This one is really flattering and I love the color. I just might have to invest in one of these kits someday - so worth the beautiful outcome!

ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! The shaping is so flattering.
ReplyDeletejsut spoke to the cucumnber patch and mine shipped on monday 7/28 :)
ReplyDeleteBTW I was able to get it for $125 less than 1/2 what it was at other sites... just wanted to share.
Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCan I make a suggestion? I feel youve bought something good here. But what should you added a couple links to a web page that backs up what youre saying? Or possibly you would give us one thing to take a look at, one thing that may connect what youre saying to something tangible? Only a suggestion. Anyway, in my language, there aren't a lot good source like this.
ReplyDeleteProperly, this is my very first go to in your weblog! We're a gaggle of volunteers and starting a brand new initiative in a community throughout the same niche. Your weblog supplied us helpful info to work on. You could have carried out a marvellous job! Anyway, in my language, there will not be a lot good source like this.
ReplyDeleteI have bookmarked it. This post is really so interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteDaniel, yea I can see what you probably did there. I really appreciated that part, however hehe I am not that harsh like my dad with these things. He at all times tells me crazy stories again in the day and calls me a loser. I guess it's time I move out of my dad and mom' basement LOL. Aaanyways, what about you? what does your dad think xD" Anyway, in my language, there are usually not a lot good source like this.
ReplyDeleteHello, i learn your blog sometimes and that i own a similar one and i used to be just wondering if you happen to get a variety of spam feedback? In that case how do you prevent it, any plugin or something you may advocate? I'm getting a lot recently it's driving me mad so any assist is very much appreciated. Anyway, in my language, there will not be a lot good supply like this.
