purple
Tuesday, January 13, 2009The color purple. I had no idea how hard it would be to spot in our home. Libby's sigg bottle is purple. But that was in her lunch box, at school. I spotted a purple comb and a purple brush. But didn't feel like photographing those. And a purple ribbon from a swim meet. But that was it. And then I walked by my desk. And there sat a plum colored pair of toast waiting to be given to a friend.
Pattern: toast
Yarn: One ball Classic elite, charmed, heathered plum. A super nice yarn, for a super great friend.
Tomorrow, yellow.

lovely color--great contrast with the snow!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about what you might do for today, especially as the blocks I'm making for a lap quilt have lots of purple. I knew I couldn't photograph and capture what you do, paying such close attention to detail, color, and...reflection. Toasty warm snow. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI'd be hard pressed to find purple in my house...
ReplyDeleteYour Toasty's are lovely, what a lovely gift. I'm sure the recipient will be thrilled!!
The warmers are great looking in purple. Your Mom made me a pair and I LOVE them. Have them on right now.
ReplyDeleteIt's super cold here in MN and the snow and warmers look just perfect.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors & stories; I'm already looking forward to the rest of the week's stories & photos. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so so pretty. And I love that shade of purple. I really need to go dig in the stash and make a pair.
ReplyDeleteThose are truly a special gift for any friend. Cashmere is my favorite..not that I could afford anything more than gloves, socks, etc. in cashmere. Some day though I'm gong to splurge.
ReplyDeleteWill be giving "toast" in charcoal wool, to my friend for her b-d on Thursday. Thank you so much for sharing the pattern.
ReplyDeleteps - LOVE that purple!
It's such a pretty purple too. I'm not a huge purple fan so it would be hard to find in my home too.
ReplyDeletelove the toast, love the picture, love the pattern
ReplyDeleteDid that purple ribbon happen to be from a swim meet this past Saturday?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture. Those toast look sooooooooooo smooshy and warm...

ReplyDeleteI have just taken two sets of Toast off of the needles, and I just love this pattern. Thank you for sharing it, and thank you for sharing this beautiful photo
ReplyDeleteThought I would introduce myself. Have just found your blog and loving it. My mother was a great knitter and tried dearly to teach my sister and I as girls, but we never really took to it. However, the fundamentals have stayed with me and now at 37 I am revisiting. My mother is no longer with us, but I am sure she is looking down and is happy her hard work paid off eventually, even though it took 30 odd years! My next project is to make the Toasty. Your plum ones are wonderful, a very lucky friend who gets those!
ReplyDeleteThose are great. I love the color and the pattern (so easy). I really have to make one of those soon...
ReplyDeleteHope you have a grat day

that color is to die for. really. super lucky friend.
ReplyDelete(and when i read your post with the super accented, i was reminded of the movie of madeline. surely libby has seen it, since she is a fan? it's the one in which frances macdormand plays miss clavel? anyway, there is a school girl who says super super often, with much emphasis. makes me smile. i miss madeline.)
ooh - looking forward to tomorrow. It's hard how colors either dominate or lack in our surroundings! I think we tend to gravitate towards the same ones a lot!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour purple, and your 'toast' looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteMary
Another pretty toast!
ReplyDeleteoh i need to make one pair of these:)
ReplyDeleteI love this color week project - how much fun!
ReplyDeleteThis shot is beautiful - lucky friend you have!! And I love this & Toasty - every time I see a new pair my fingers itch to cast on!
They look lovely and soft. beautiful colour too.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that I still have not made a pair of these! At least twice a day as I head out the door I find myself thinking of how well a pair of Toast would look with whatever I am wearing. The plum ones are gorgeous and would go really well with my coat. That's it, I am going to the yarn shop tomorrow, I'm determined.
ReplyDeleteOooh I likey. I don't usually do purple, but if someone gave me a pair of those, I might never take them off!
ReplyDeletegreat picture!
ReplyDeleteThose are great! I have not learned how to knit on double pointed needles yet. Do you think I could knit them on 12" circulars, or would the needles be too long?
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty color. I don't know why I don't have more of it around my house.
ReplyDeleteMmmm... love that plum. Your friend will be delighted to receive them, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI think I would be hard pressed to find purple in my house too! Love the Toasties, they look great in every color.
ReplyDeleteHave a super day :-)
What a lovely color! They look very cozy against the snow.
ReplyDeletebeautiful plum - i like that type of purple
ReplyDeleteThat's the perfect way to show purple!
ReplyDeleteThose look so toasty! I think this may just be what I need to do to try to knit again after my wrist injury in Sept. Thanks for a wonderful pattern!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous photo!!!
ReplyDeletei adore this photo.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And guess what? I finished a purple pair of toasty that I will be sharing soon on my blog. Weird...
ReplyDeleteAndrea
what a stunning shade of purple! Glad you passed over the comb!
ReplyDeleteple. It is a color I never really liked, but these past few months I have been sick about it. Love that shade!
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty! I really like the photo as well!
ReplyDeletePurple should be easy to find in your house...didn't your dashing husband go to LSU?
ReplyDeleteRicardo
Those are lovely!
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought you were going to say, "And then I spotted a ball of purple yarn and decided to knit myself up some mitts!"
ReplyDeleteThat yarn is delicious. Now those are some special Toasts! Can I just tell you that my Toasts are probably my most-worn knitted accessory? Love them!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture!
ReplyDeletePurple is probably my favourite colour and yet I think I would be hard pressed to find some in the house too. Interestingly though I have a special skein of purple yarn sent to me from the US...earmarked for a pair of Toasts for myself!
ReplyDeleteOh, so, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHow does one become your friend :-) ?!
Mimi
these are charming! love them.
ReplyDeleteOK, you know what? The knitting store lady is going to think I'm a psycho if I show up again. I've been three times already this week!
ReplyDeleteHm. Maybe I AM a psycho...
i LOVE these. and i usually don't care for the color purple.
ReplyDeleteI like purple as well...but I never end up making things with that color...I should head to the store and pick up some purples!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty purple! I've never knit with that yarn...is it nice to work with?
ReplyDeleteGreat picture!
ReplyDeletePurple is my favorite, and my house is filled with it.

ReplyDeleteCan I make a suggestion? I think youve got something good here. But what if you happen to added a couple links to a page that backs up what youre saying? Or perhaps you could possibly give us something to take a look at, something that might join what youre saying to one thing tangible? Just a suggestion. Anyway, in my language, there will not be much good supply like this.
