purple

The color purple. I had no idea how hard it would be to spot in our home. Libby's sigg bottle is purple. But that was in her lunch box, at school. I spotted a purple comb and a purple brush.  But didn't feel like photographing those.  And a purple ribbon from a swim meet.  But that was it.  And then I walked by my desk.  And there sat a plum colored pair of toast waiting to be given to a friend.

Pattern: toast
Yarn:  One ball Classic elite, charmed, heathered plum.   A super nice yarn, for a super great friend.

Tomorrow, yellow.

  2. I've been thinking about what you might do for today, especially as the blocks I'm making for a lap quilt have lots of purple. I knew I couldn't photograph and capture what you do, paying such close attention to detail, color, and...reflection. Toasty warm snow. I love it.

  8. Those are truly a special gift for any friend. Cashmere is my favorite..not that I could afford anything more than gloves, socks, etc. in cashmere. Some day though I'm gong to splurge.

It's such a pretty purple too. I'm not a huge purple fan so it would be hard to find in my home too.

  15. Thought I would introduce myself. Have just found your blog and loving it. My mother was a great knitter and tried dearly to teach my sister and I as girls, but we never really took to it. However, the fundamentals have stayed with me and now at 37 I am revisiting. My mother is no longer with us, but I am sure she is looking down and is happy her hard work paid off eventually, even though it took 30 odd years! My next project is to make the Toasty. Your plum ones are wonderful, a very lucky friend who gets those!

  17. that color is to die for. really. super lucky friend.
(and when i read your post with the super accented, i was reminded of the movie of madeline. surely libby has seen it, since she is a fan? it's the one in which frances macdormand plays miss clavel? anyway, there is a school girl who says super super often, with much emphasis. makes me smile. i miss madeline.)

  24. I cannot believe that I still have not made a pair of these! At least twice a day as I head out the door I find myself thinking of how well a pair of Toast would look with whatever I am wearing. The plum ones are gorgeous and would go really well with my coat. That's it, I am going to the yarn shop tomorrow, I'm determined.

Those are great! I have not learned how to knit on double pointed needles yet. Do you think I could knit them on 12" circulars, or would the needles be too long?

Or perhaps you could possibly give us something to take a look at, something that might join what youre saying to one thing tangible? Just a suggestion.
