on my needles
Friday, January 23, 2009I mentioned a while ago that I started something for myself.
It is the Moorland Honeycomb cardigan from Classic Elite. I have changed the pattern a bit. I didn't feel like doing the 1x1 rib for 6" at the beginning, so I changed it to a 1" garter edge. I am also going to make the neckline a little higher.
Have you ever worked on something and thought that it was too small? Yep. Me too. I will be shocked if this thing fits me.
However, I started the right front. And if nothing else, my sister will inherit another sweater.

ReplyDeleteYour lucky sister! It makes me cringe to spend that much time knitting something so nice and then having to gift it!
ReplyDeleteawesome color leslie. another great choice for you!
ReplyDeleteI love the color!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really sophisticated with such great color! I hope it ends up fitting well enough that you don't have to give it to your sister!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like your mods! It'll look even better... even if only on your sister!
ReplyDeleteAm wondering if current project on the needles (80% finished) will be too small. Don't care. Will blog and stretch the snot out of it, if I have to. Have loved knitting it though. It's Lima from the Mirasol Project
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful...
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful. I'm such an impatient knitter. I don't think I could hang in there that long..
ReplyDeletekeep us posted. I can't wait to see how it fits.
Owwww. What a gorgeous cardigan. I love the long, fitted sleeves. And the color you've chosen is beautiful, will look great with those jeans and boots required of a winter, and later, fall, too.
ReplyDeleteI imagine you've a look and feel about your knitting for size and fit, comfort and style. See what we "see" when you finish and stand before the mirror. You'll know if there you are.
Peace out!
I love the cardigan. I am sure yours will turn out great with your mods. I hope it fits you!
ReplyDeleteI like the colour you chose. I hope it fits you, Leslie.
ReplyDeleteAnd which sister is smaller than you, my dear? It looks like a beauty and I'm crossing my fingers that it fits. Wasn't the weather today gorgeous?!
ReplyDeleteWhen am unsure of the size, I usually start with the sleeves(if I don't want to swatch).
ReplyDeleteNice colour you are working on. I bet it will turn out just as fine.
have a nice weekend.

ReplyDeleteLooks great, lovely colour...
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful color you are knitting it out of! I bet it will fit!
ReplyDeletePretty color, and I like the pattern. Is the sizing based on bust measurement or garment measurement? Sometimes they switch them; that might be a reason for it to be a few inches too small. I feel a little badly doing it, but I hope your sister is unlucky!
ReplyDeletea friend to knit with? - I loooove your blog name (and contents too) :)
ReplyDeleteLovely rustic color and texture. I find I have a real affinity for quite a few of the Classic Elite patterns.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous yarn - I love the color!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see this one!
ReplyDeleteI bet it looks lovely when it's finished. I don't think I'd want my sleeves that long though!
ReplyDelete:-)
Ha! I usually have a sneaking suspicion that what I'm knitting will be too big. I blame my loose gauge.

ReplyDeleteI finished my "chunky knit beany" this afternoon, thank you for the inspiration and the instructions. I had this lovely wool for years without daring to spoil it with my limited knitting-knowledge. You can see it (and me) in my bilingual blog http://scents-and-senses.blogspot.com/2009/01/etwas-warmes-braucht-der-mensch.html I am curious of the progress with your new sweater. Warm and sunny greetings from Southwest-Ireland Eliane

ReplyDeleteThe cardigan looks lovely. I'm so sorry it is knitting up small. You have a very lucky sister though :).
ReplyDeleteYou've been hiding your knits! This is so pretty; too bad it's coming out small. Well, good for your sister, I guess....
ReplyDeleteOh, I HATE when that happens! Of course, I refuse to frog and then I force myself to wear the too-small sweater anyway. You can always try blocking the heck out of it! Blocking does do wonders.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLove that sweater. You aren't interested in ripping it back to make it fit you?
ReplyDeleteGiving you an award today. Thanks for blogging. g
