twelve
Friday, December 12, 2008I don't like this project. Nope, not one little bit. It could be perhaps due to the fact that I didn't start it until the last minute. Now I am on a race with time. And as much as I hate it, I am going to do my best to win this race. Because, I am thinking the finished product will be well worth the work.
The cookie of the week was brown sugar brown butter cookies after seeing these. I actually made them twice. Smitten Kitchen updated their post, saying that respondents where mentioning that their cookies were "falling apart". I would have to fall into that category. Both times we had crumbly cookies. They taste great, but would definitely not package well.

Well - it looks fantastic! Would love to know what you are putting inside!
ReplyDeletethat's a shame about the mittens. Cookies look yummy.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a cute project though! I hope you finish it. Just think, next year, you'll be able to just pull it out and just enjoy it!
ReplyDeletethat's the way it is sometimes...cookies,tho...now I wanted to make these, but yes,I read elsewhere they crumble...just have to eat them up faster!!
ReplyDeleteBoth look great. Keep doing what you are doing! You'll win the race if you keep chugging along.
ReplyDeleteJust thing - next year you can just hang them up!!! I love them - great job. So precious.
ReplyDeleteTanya
Tiennie hit the nail on the head!
ReplyDelete"Hang in there" only 13 it looks great and is worth your efforts toward the goal. You inspire me!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!! Don't you hate starting something way too late? Not that I would *ever* do that. Nope, not me.
ReplyDeleteyou'll win, i'm sure of it! and they are so cute! you probably should make one for each child as a keepsake :) just saying.
ReplyDeletecookie making in our house next weekend!
If anyone can do it, it's you. And you will be so grateful next year (and many after that) that you did.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be worth it, hang in there! :0)
ReplyDeleteAt least they taste good! Brown sugar is worth a crumble or too, eh?
ReplyDeleteI'm with tiennie- push through, and next year you can pull it out to enjoy with such a sense of satisfaction (and gratefulness to not have to do that again, lol!)
Happy knitting-

Oh...but I really, really like these mittens. DON'T STOP! Please?
ReplyDeleteThe advent calendar came out beautifully! Great job! It's fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for staying in the race! They look wonderful. I'm definitely going to have to download this project and perhaps start it in January - one a month???
ReplyDeleteOh they do look great though. Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? :)
ReplyDeletePlug along Leslie, it will be worth it. Have an enjoyable weekend too.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! The garland will be well worth it - tooo cute!
ReplyDeleteOMG those cookies look sooo good - thanks for the recipe!
They are really coming along! They look great from here :)
ReplyDeleteI think the mittens look great! The cookies look great too!
ReplyDeleteI have a sneaky suspicion that you won't let this little project whoop you. 12 down? You're halfway (minus 1) there!
ReplyDeleteYou poor soul. The idea of doing one of those a day, makes me cringe. Could it be that my ADD would win, and it would never get done? Quite possibly.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look like they could hurt someone! But the name sure sounds tasty!
*ponders what to bake today*
that is me and my granny squares....i don't think i should tackle this project.
ReplyDeleteit does look super cute, though. and you will be so happy that you did it. ;)
must. keep. going. You'll be so happy you did. The finished ones look great! (both the knitted garland and the cookies!)
ReplyDeleteI was going to say.. I LOVE the mittens!! I do things last minute too.. so I DO know those feelings!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the advent mittens look incredible. Maybe I'll try for your piece by piece throughout the year method - or the actual plunge in yarn over heels all December in a frantic attempt to finish! Either way, it's inspiring to see them finished and hanging. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYomamaknits
i adore those mittens!
ReplyDeletebut, i can also offer boundless empathy for your holiday-project-hate plight. i was working on large volumes of edible goodies for holiday gift baskets last night, and my husband walked into the kitchen, took one look at me and said "are you even having any fun doing this?".
i'm sure you'll be glad you made the mittens a few weeks down the road, when you look back at all your holiday pictures & see how precious they are :)
Well it looks fantastic so stick with it!
ReplyDeleteI have issues with our advent calendar this year too and that's just with filling it, let alone making it!
Oh my!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look so delicious!
I admire your dedication to the project!
ReplyDeleteI have to say the project looks great, the cookies sound yummy and the comments are awesome. Quite inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThe mittens are so cute--I would have given up after number three or four! The cookies are delicious, aren't they? Mine barely held together but they taste great.
ReplyDeleteI looked at that recipe too - good to know they are crumbly!!
ReplyDeletethat is so sweet, Leslie. You will be so happy when you pull it out year after year. i remember how much you wanted one last year!
ReplyDeleteThey look great! I started making some for next year because I knew there would be no way I could get them done for this year. They are very fun to make, so I am looking forward to filling them up next year for my daughter. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGo go go! (Waving pom poms in the air). It is so cute and you will be so happy when it is DONE! I feel your pain, I made an advent garland in November of knitted stockings, and I actually finished it on the 30th (the knitting) but I still have to embroider all the numbers and hang it up! I'm stalled. We have been bringing one stocking to the dinner table every night, even though they don't have the numbers on, so we've been enjoying it. You will love yours.(www.whatsthatgonnabe.blogspot.com)
ReplyDeleteI commend you on the advent mittens...that is a lot of work. Hope you have a fabulous Christmas if I don't catch up before then.
ReplyDeleteKeep going - I know you will love them for years and years to come once they are all finished!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are in my file of "things to make." Yours look so tasty!
ReplyDeletecute.... I love these.... and those cookies.... YUM.... have added to my must try list.... thanx for the link.
ReplyDeleteKeep going, they look great!
ReplyDeleteI could never take on something like those mittens--I'd have a nervous breakdown after knitting 2 or 3. It'll be worth it, though--very cute.
ReplyDeleteBut they look adorable!
ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous! The final result will be well worth it all!
