cookies (i wonder how many times i have used that boring title)
Sunday, November 23, 2008Lest you think that I have reneged on my cookie of the week, I can assure you that I have not. There are always cookies being baked over here.
Last weeks cookie was Oatmeal scotchies. That I had to make after seeing this photo. The recipe is right on the bag of butterscotch chips. I can't believe that I have never made them. They were a big hit, and the butterscotch chips seemed to make them extra sweet.
Also last week, I made the batter for this cookie, after seeing this post on Parikha's blog. I baked them today. Perfect for this coming week. This cookie definitely is not as sweet as the oatmeal scotchie. I sprinkled the second and third batches with sugar before baking. Added a little bit of "sweetness" if you know what I mean.
And to keep their snappiness, I took the advice and stored them in a ziplock bag. Sort of a bummer since I like cookies in the cookie jar. But nobody probably wants a soggy gingersnap.

Those oatmeal cookies look heavenly. I love oatmeal *almost* as much as I love chocolate chip. The picture was super neat too! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletei think i'll try the gingersnaps this week. perfect for pre-thanksgiving snacking, i think. and we've been cleaning all weekend too! so nice to have a house in order. enjoy your parents!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE your blog! And there can NOT be too many cookie entries! My son went off tocollege this year and find myself making more cookies than usual. Please stop by and see what I have baked up. They call me the cookie lady.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am a knitoholic as well! You make such beautiful things. I wish my sons would have any bit of interest in wearing anything I make, but that is not to be :(

yummy! I love a good gingersnap. I'll have to give those a try.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we don't have parents visiting for Thanksgiving. I don't feel like looking in my corners. :)
oh, how I love oatmeal scotchies. they are so very delicious! they'd have to be in my top 3 favorite cookies of all time.
ReplyDeleteSuper looking cookies. I didn't comment on your previous post cos I just won some lovely 'toasties' from Cocoknits :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Oatmeal scotchies are one of my favorite cookies!
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful week!
I love storebought gingersnaps, but have never made, nor even thought about making, them from scratch. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of all that you get done! I'm always tempted by your cookies. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I always love your cookie recipes and now you've shared two more for me to try out!
ReplyDeleteHope you and your amazingly clean home have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the family!
we did the same clean....although, as i look around, i think some of it needs more attention. thanks for sharing the cookie recipes.xo.
ReplyDeleteThose gingersnaps look yummy! There's an old Bon Appetit recipe for gingersnaps Turkey (yeah, it doesn't sound all that good now that I'm saying it out loud), but it always gets rave reviews.
ReplyDeleteYou know, if you have any left over. And don't already have a plan for your turkey.
Both of which seem unlikely at this juncture.
Enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving week with your parents. Know peace, love, memories old & new and much laughter!
ReplyDeleteDelish, Leslie! Have a great visit with your parents:)
ReplyDeletemmmm - they are both my favorite kinds of cookies - oatmeal, butterscotch and gingersnap!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like those cookies, they look simple but delicious~!
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie! Welcome to 12 Square!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look just perfect for the morning cup o' joe. ;)
We can never see too make cookies on here! Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I was just going to check your blog today for a cookie recipe. :)
ReplyDeleteNothing like a nice brisk fall day for cookie making! I've never tried the recipe on the buttescotch chips bag -very tempting! I do make a muffin recipe that has the chips and raisins in them- a really good combination.
ReplyDeletei have made the oatmeal butterscotch cookies myself after tasting one at alices in nyc! they are always a big hit and people are surprised THEY never thought to try butterscotch chips in oatmeal cookies themselves!
ReplyDelete"cookies"is never boring:) In any context! They lood delicious, again!
ReplyDeleteI've made these - they are delicious warm!
ReplyDeleteahh...to be in the midst of family. what a comfortable spot. looking forward to our trip east this week as well.
ReplyDelete"cookies" never boring!
I hardly ever use the words "cookies" and "boring" in the same sentence!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try the gingersnaps! They look like a lot of fun. I made ginger molasses cookies yesterday (at, umm, 4 a.m.) and made ginger sugar to roll the cookies in. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE, Oatmeal Scotchies!!! And have been feeling the urge to be making some for the last week!
ReplyDeleteAnd your slice and bake cookies reminded me of the molasses ones I made a couple weeks ago but never posted about- our family's 'Auntie Cookies', not named after any aunt, but gramma ermal cookies was already taken- she had a second great recipe and my little sister had to call them something else because my other little sister already called the other cookies grandma ermal cookies! LOL! They were too funny, and all of grandma ermal's cookies were too good!
I'm going to have to try those gingersnaps, I love ginger snaps, and was planning on making a variety of such this afternoon!
Oh, and maybe knitting alittle, can't forget the knitting.
Happy knitting to you-
ali
those butterscotch cookies looks wonderful! I have to say there is a soft sport for butterscotch and caramel in me. both I just love!
ReplyDeleteMmm, the ginger snaps look good. My mom made a similar cookie that I think was just called brown sugar cookies (no ginger). I may have to try both soon :-)
