My son and I skipped together the other day. It really was fun, and it was so cute to watch him try to keep the rhythm. Skipping is hard!

these are so sweet! the solid pastel color really shows off the cables perfectly. my belly doesn't allow much skipping these days (expecting a baby any minute now), but the only thing I remember being even more satisfying than skipping is galloping -- have you tried that one?

Those look great. I've heard the tip before, but have always been too lazy to incorporate it (or considered it too fiddly). I should try it the next time I make socks for my hubby, so the heels will last longer than a couple short months!

I've heard that sewing thread is not good to use as it cuts through the wool. Please let us know how the heels on these hold up so we know which method works best.

Great socks !!! I had no idea about the thread and I've heard a lot working in the lys.

Just a brief FYI on reinforcing the heel or toe....you must use the same fiber content (and ideally the same weight). This is because the stronger of the two strands will wear and cut the weaker. For example, you would never use polyester thread with cotton yarn.

I skipped just the other day, and I'm still taking Aleeve. I had to pass this on...my Finnish friend's parents and grandparents use dental floss instead of string on the heels. Genius (depending on the color of yarn, anyway)! Ever try to break a length of floss by pulling? No way!!

Cute socks. Glad to see a family member likes them. I would love to knit socks for my family but they wont wear them!

I didn't know about the thread idea either but the heel is not where I have the problem, it is the part of the foot under the heel. I always seem to wear a hole there. Any ideas on how to fix that? I still wear the socks as I don't seem to notice the hole on hand knitted socks & they still feel good!

Those socks are beautiful! I love the color. And no, I hadn't heard that tip about the thread before. I had heard about weaving a nylon thread through the heel before, but that just seems like a big pain in the butt. =)
