progress
Wednesday, September 24, 2008Geez. You all are the best. Thank you so much for Charlie's birthday wishes. We appreciate each and every one of them. So much. Thirteen really does seem big. I am still trying to digest the fact that I have a thirteen year old.
I have made some progress on Libby's sweater. Keep in mind this is being modeled on my adult dress form that oddly enough has the same shoulder width as my ten year old. I sure hope you all didn't think that I was going to add all of the cables like the mini Boden sweater. Nope. Way too much thought would have had to go into that. But I think that I accomplished the swing design that I was going for. I think.
I have fiddled with the sleeves so much. Hopefully I am on track now.

i'm sure this will be great! i was hoping for cables , but this is just as good. love your new header by the way!
ReplyDeleteI really like the color. And I have to say I am impressed with your ability to recreate. I don't think I have the patience for that.
ReplyDeleteFirst, loving the new Banner! And, I know I miss the point a lot, but your blouse is adorable too! And the sweater is going to be adorable. I cannot wait to try this yarn. It just looks so squishy and yummy, yet it's still tweed! Next time I need to modify a pattern, I know who I am going to call...
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sweater! Libby will love it. can't wait to see more:)
ReplyDeleteIt's really adorable. I love that yarn, and it has just the right swingy effect.
ReplyDeleteOh, please - your hands are just fine. Mine are so bad (ALREADY!) that people actually say What happened to YOU? like I just maybe accidentally dropped sulfuric acid all over them or something.
ReplyDeleteOh. Yeah - the sweater looks great, too!
yes, i really did think you were going to cable the sweater, just like the mini boden one. still, your creation is adorable, and i LOVE the hearkening back to the grey and blue of the boys' sweaters.
ReplyDeleteps: i heart your banner...
I don't blame you for not doing the cables when you have 2 other sweaters to do. It's looking so pretty though. What yarn are you using for it?
ReplyDeleteThe Libby is looking great. The color is so pretty, the pattern sweet yet young girl hip!
ReplyDeleteOh and I wanted to tell you I noticed your new blog photo right away. I like it! Comfy, casual & warm. A nice reflection of your space.
Love it, such great colors.
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is coming along nicely. I like the swing shape and since I am not a real fan of cables, I love the sweater as is.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful sweater!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the boys.
ReplyDeletenice progress, leslie!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove the new banner.
you certainly are making progress...I am impressed!
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is going to be so cute! Yes, very swingy!
ReplyDeleteYou really did get the swing you were looking for, hooray!!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute!
ReplyDeleteAh, sleeve shaping, I am very familiar with the fiddling, especially with sleeve caps...
It's looking fabulous so far- and I have got to get myself a dress form! (I'll just add that to the list of things I just HAVE to have...)
Happy knitting-
ali
Ooooh! That is lovely Leslie! Great color, cool design, can't wait to see how it finishes up. I also really like the photo of you knitting!
ReplyDeletecheers,
Sabrina
Loving the swingyness of the sweater and the color.
ReplyDeleteIt is frightening how they seem to grow up so fast. My oldest turns 13 this December and I feel slightly sick whenever I think of it. I wish there was a pause button on kids growth.
Is gotta be another great knit !!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I like how you tied in the colors for the boys vests in the hem. So talented!
ReplyDeleteLove this! The colors are so wonderful, and the shape is equally wonderful :) I'd love to make this adult-sized, for me!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're right on track for the arrival of sweater weather. Simply pretty!
ReplyDeleteleslie! it is beautiful! i love the color - and the bit of gray at the bottom is perfect. that last photo of you is so wonderful. off to favorite it on flickr....
ReplyDeleteand i did order the boden one. i couldn't resist. ;)
ooh! this looks exciting! happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of progress on that cutie sweater. I'll be following in your tracks soon as I owe my kiddos at least a sweater this season.
ReplyDeletep.s. you made me look at my dry hands...For the life of me, even though I constantly mosturize, my hands never quite seem perfectly soft and well manicured!
What a pretty knit and the color is such a gentle pink. I have a Libby too.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat to pop in and take a look at what you've been working on.
ReplyDeleteI still can't knit but I'm still inspired to learn.
Have a great weekend.
You are an inspiration! Yes, I'll be practical - I'm jotting down a list of all my unfinished projects and will check them off one-by-one! To celebrate I will knit a sweater just for me - thanks for swaying in that direction!
ReplyDeleteYou can see the swing definitely.
ReplyDeleteI really do enjoy the combination of pink and gray.
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is looking gorgeous! I love the colors you have chosen.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be just perfect for Libby! You're a clever lady!
ReplyDeletebtw..I'm seeing this paired beautifully with the washed velvet trousers in the new Boden catalogue! :D
