getting sidetracked
Friday, September 05, 2008I'm having trouble staying focused lately. Maybe it is because I don't have a plan to my day. And my lists are so long I just seem to hop from one thing to another. Like yesterday, for instance. I had a huge list. With a lot of things that needed to be done. So, there I was moving right along. I had a package I needed to mail, but needed the address. So I hopped onto the computer to get it. Next thing I knew, I was reading blogs. Hopped onto Parikha's blog. To wish her a Happy Birthday. (It was Theresa's Birthday, too!) Saw the peanut butter cups she made.
Next thing I knew I was in the kitchen. Measuring the ingredients. You know. Because, making cookies for cookie of the week was on the list, too. This could be considered a cookie, right?
Then I was getting the twine. To wrap Libby's for school. I knew she would like this. The boys, not so much. Put theirs in a plastic bag.
Darn recipe only makes twelve. Two for each of the children for after school. One for each of the children to pack in the lunch boxes. That leaves three. Um, yeah. They are delicious. Note to self......double recipe next time.
Also on the list. Knit another pair of these gloves. Writing down exactly what I do as I go along. And on the list for Monday......post the pattern.

wow. those peanut butter cups look AMAZING!!!!
ReplyDeletePS - I don't call it "getting sidetracked" I call it the "something shiny syndrome"....sounds better. You see something shiny and you are off....
these cups are evil. evil!
ReplyDeletelove your pictures.
Oh, I don't think anyone will argue about this not being a cookie of the week. Yummy! Now I'm side tracked. Hmmm, what was I suppose to be doing?
ReplyDeleteif i gain 25 pounds, it's going to be your fault. first the sea salt brownies, now this...
ReplyDeletei get sidetracked all the time - some mornings i have to ban myself from powering up the laptop, because i know i'll just get sucked into blog reading.
ReplyDeletei love how these peanut butter cups are spreading like wildfire :) and yes, they definitely qualify for cookie of the week!
Yes that sounds familiar! I am very easily distracted around the house. The peanut butter cups definitely look like they're worth the distraction though!
ReplyDeleteit's the change of seasons in the air-time for distractions-but you seem to be headed in the right direction-I will make these this weekend(I love your wrapping!!!) And I like the yarn you've chosen this time VERY much...
ReplyDeleteI am a Master of getting Sidetracked! I do fairly well Monday thru Friday, but come Saturday....that is a whole different story! I must say tho, I think those peanut butter cups looked like they were worth a little sidetracking!
ReplyDeletelove this combo of sweetness. i'm sure the lunch tables will be buzzing about these treats!
ReplyDeletei'm resisting the urge to run to the grocery for chocolate chips.
ReplyDeletewhat is that beautiful gray yarn?
Add me to the list of those sidetracked! I should be walking the dog and doing laundry :)
ReplyDeleteI will definitely have to make that this weekend!
ReplyDeleteNow I hope you're ready to account for those three missing peanut butter cups, Missy!!
ReplyDeleteThe gray of the new gloves is just gorgeous. Have a great weekend, Leslie:)
That's what I've been fighting too. It's like living in "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie."
ReplyDeleteLeslie, have you ever heard of a double batch.....come on! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh I know where you're coming from girlfriend! A lot of my days seem like that. I like what Stacey calls it "something shiny syndrome" :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend too.
at least you got sidetracked in the best possible way. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same problem...lots to do, long lists, no focus and not getting a lot done!
ReplyDeleteI also sometimes go upstairs to get/do something and get halfway there and forget why! Scary and I'm only 46! :)
I love that you wrapped Libby's up for her. So cute!!!
ReplyDeleteGetting sidetracked is the story of my life. At least you're sidetracked by enjoyable things!
ReplyDeleteOh, no. I'm not much of a sweet or dessert person, but I love peanut butter cups. Imagine homemade?! I can't think about having those things in the house, not with the chocaholic (sp?) I live with and for the "muffin top" hips that would become more out of control!
ReplyDeleteI love that yarn. Note to self, get some light/medium gray yarn.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your pattern! I want to make a pair of fingerless mitts. I'm halfway through a pair of orange mittens right now. Do you have any suggestions for the crotch of the thumb? Heh, that sounds dirty. But anyway, on my test mitten, I ended up with a decent sized hole in the V where the thumb connects to the hand. Does that happen to you?
Have a wonderful weekend!
yummy! as soon as my wrist heals up I am making some, or making the girls make me some. Yes, that sounds much better.
ReplyDeleteI love the cookies of the week idea. How can I sign up to be a taste tester.
ReplyDelete:-)
Oh, yes, please do post the pattern for the fingerless mitts. I have been wanting to try those for some time now.
Those PB cups have been haunting me. Must try them now!
ReplyDeleteOh, it just sounds just like my days lately - no plans, long lists, unfocussed, hopping around etc! I wish I ate cookies like these to sum it up but didn't. However, they are delicious and I will try baking them too!
ReplyDeleteHope the weekend will kick you back into the routine of things.
As usual, you sucked me right in, too... there I was, with just two minutes free to see if you've posted, then next thing I know, I'm off looking at Demi, writing down a recipe, clicking away at a glove...
ReplyDeleteYeah.
I TOTALLY hear ya'. And now I'm late!
Just as I'm sitting here craving a bit of chocolate, I run into your post. My willpower is now shot!
ReplyDeleteYummmmmm!
Oh now I want peanut butter cups.
ReplyDeleteLove those gloves they look awesome and I bet they are just as comfy on cold hands. One of these days I will learn to knit.
Chocolate and peanut butter is a major weakness of mine. Yum!!!

ReplyDeleteIf that is called 'getting sidetracked' I don't know what I do all day. I drooled over even just the ingredients photo, yummo! You are such an amazing woman Leslie.
ReplyDeleteI made these today -- YUM! :)
ReplyDeleteThe peanut butter cups look great! I wonder how they'd work with crunchy peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI wish you were my neighbor. I'd trade cookies with you in a heart beat (mine don't tend to look quite as nice, but they are always tasty).
