The sweater is perfect. Even though you said it was simple, it's the color choices and the bands that really set it off. Sometimes simple and classic is way better than tons of color and crazy patterns. Nice job!

i have modified it to use a seed stitch border and stockinette for the yoke, and it is an easily modified pattern.

Oh it is absolutely gorgeous. I just know what to knit for a friend's baby girl now. I will have to find the book amongst my knitting patterns first though. I love the colors you chose too and I am sure a purple one will look just as beautiful too.
