Tuesday, April 22, 2008I guess all good things must end. Our spring break seemed to go by too quickly. The same sort of things happened this year as did last year. We pretty much do the exact same things at my parents every year and seriously they would all be a big blur if it wasn't for the children getting older. And hence, things getting easier.
There were early morning sunrises.
Fishing on the dock. Charlie can now do the entire thing on his own. Even the release using the needle nose pliers, a huge accomplishment.
Kayaking. It was the first year Charlie took his own.
A lot of swimming. In the ocean and the pool.
Knitting. Of course there was knitting!
And our evening trips to the boardwalk for ice cream.

Great pics, Leslie, glad you had a good time. Our weather has been rather nice lately, let's hope it continues and we don't get snow for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh they will remember each moment! Isn't it great to provide such lovely memories for our children. Zoe just turned three so my thoughts these days when we do an activity or go out on a special outing are "will she remember this now?maybe next year?maybe now?" somehow her being able to remember and not just me makes it even more special.
ReplyDeleteohhhhh love the beach shot...I miss those waves and sand! We really need a vacation!
It sounds like a great vacation! Were those pictures from Myrtle Beach SC?
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed you sharing!
Oh, it sounds complete idyllic! So glad you had such a nice time filled with "memory making."
ReplyDeleteLove the pics!
ReplyDeleteYou're not done with that laundry yet? So glad you had a great time. Isn't the fishing milestone a great one? I am so happy that I don't have to take fish off hooks anymore!

I love, love, love the photo of the kids running on the Boardwalk w/your parents leading they way. Such a beautiful photo. It deserves a frame.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! It looks like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteWe're on spring break right now, but now trip this year. Just hanging out in NJ and NYC.
Your Spring Break sounds like our end-of-summer beach trip, done every year, right before school starts. DH's family has gone to the same beach since before he was born, and now our kids are reaping the benefits of long, unstructured days, hours of wave riding, walking to the pier every night for ice cream, long games of gin rummy with Grandma (now 95) and soaking up all that beauty of the ocean. It's just the BEST!!! Thanks for sharing your pictures.
ReplyDeleteAl sounds so wonderful. Glad to hear it was so great.
ReplyDeletewelcome home. lovely photos and memories to post.
ReplyDeletesometimes -- when looking at photos or recalling a favorite memory -- i really wish that i could freeze time and keep the kids young. then, there are times where i think that life would be SO much easier on me once they're older.
but really, does it get easier? i think that yeah, i might not be changing diaper and chasing after a toddler, but i'll be worrying about curfews and unable to chase after teenagers.
How wonderfully idyllic, Leslie! I don't think you need worry. At the end of the day, I'm sure your children will remember how special their upbringing was :o)
ReplyDeleteOh they'll be wonderful memories for sure. Welcome home, so glad to hear had a wonderful time. How could you not;-)
ReplyDeleteHope you don't have too much laundry to do!
Hugs
Denise
Looks like you had a wonderful time! I'm positive your children feel totally cherished and will remember these times in great detail. I'm totally envious of your evenings on the boardwalk too!
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo of your kids chasing your parents! Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Hold on to those great memories and traditions!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! How great that is! I think it's fun to do the same vacation, where there's a yearly routine. We have that when we hit the family beach cabins each summer. Each one has its own stuff that must be done, and the kids totally anticipate everything. "First we'll walk to Mo's for lunch, then we'll go to the tide pools. After that we'll go to the bakery and get the Haystack bread." The best part is that it's the same as my childhood vacations too - same house, same places. So much fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect Florida vacation--all ours were identical and just fabulous!:)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful time! I could use a beach vacation right about now. Welcome home!

ReplyDeleteWhat great pics. I'm sure your children will cherish those memories.
