project spectrum
Friday, March 21, 2008I started a couple of new projects last week being inspired and motivated by project spectrum.
I was lucky enough to receive yarn for both projects from a couple of dear friends. Above is Sundara Yarn in dahlia, that I received from Melana back in December. This yarn has been calling my name ever since. I had never knit with sundara yarns, and wow is it ever lovely. A basic cast on of 64 stitches with a baby cable pattern.
Kim sent the ONline Linie 194 Solo yarn for a sweet scarf for Libby. Oodles, and oodles of soft little ruffles.
I had the hardest time getting started. I still am not positive that I am doing it correctly, but there really is no more time to waste. The end of this month marks the end of this triad of project spectrum. The scarf should be easy to complete, but the socks? I am going to give it my best shot.

Oh, how pretty! Everything matches! You're so good at these color-themed projects. The ruffles look so pretty; I was never able to master it.
ReplyDeleteJust noticing your new banner too. Nice!
Happy Easter!
I am totally in love with that dahlia colourway. Those socks will be so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty and girly scarf! So cute:)
ReplyDeleteAh, it will be a scarf! We still need to do the eggs and then we are set. Sorta seems funny doing all this stuff with winter jackets on!
ReplyDeletePS Nice new banner! Love it!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty spring projects! Love those ruffles.
ReplyDeleteThe new banner looks great!
i keep staring at that amazing scarf in progress and trying to figure out how the ruffles came to life like that...the yarn looks almost tape-like and the ruffles seem like they are so delicate...but however it works that scarf is so cool! lucky libby!
ReplyDeleteLove how the Sundara is working up - so pretty and inspiring! And that scarf - how fun is that?!
ReplyDeleteThe scarf is really lovely! We are all set for Easter too, though maybe dye a few more eggs tommorrow.
ReplyDeletegorgeous work.... and all that pink goodness wow!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCute socks! I love Sundara yarn. She has an amazing eye for color. Yeah - Easter and snow don't seem to mix! Easter is just too early this year. I hope you all enjoy your holiday!
ReplyDeletesome one just gave me some sundara - can't wait till i can knit again!
ReplyDeletewe are expecting snow too - ugh.
Hey, the colours of your projects are just perfect for spring!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Easter weekend!
You figured out the scarf YEAH HOPPY EASTER.....I'm glad you finally got it started!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yarn and projects! We received snow today, too. Hmmm, something doesn't seem right about that...?!
ReplyDeleteOh that ruffle scarf is right up my alley Leslie! Love et! Libby will love it too!
ReplyDeleteYou're a magician, Leslie! How *do* you turn beautiful string into beautiful wearables? The scarf has me flummoxed. In any case, I loe the intensity of color.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! Loving the ruffled scarf even if it is not "done right" it looks great!
ReplyDeletesuch pretty sherbet-y colors! lovely. may you find lots of sun in an easter basket for melting that snow :)
ReplyDeleteThat ruffly scarf is beautiful, soft, delicate - so perfect. It made me smile and gave me hope for Spring!
ReplyDeleteOooo, I have to admit that pink is one of my favorite colors!
ReplyDeleteSnow? On Easter? no, that doesn't seem right...but I guess that's what happens when it comes so early this year. Hope you have a good one!
So lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove that Sundara, the baby cable is a great choice. I advise you to use some nylon on the heel as I just had to throw out a pair of merino socks with a giant gaping hole!
ReplyDeleteOoodels and oodels looks so soft and fun. That scarve will add a lot of personality to an outfit.
ReplyDeleteoh, both projects looks great! i love those baby cables!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love the pinks.. so dainty.. and pretty... awaiting springtime.. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteOooh that ruffle is lovely, how do you do that? Is it the yarn itself, or the stitch you're doing?
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing you a lovely Easter.
Hugs Denise
I really like the idea of cabled socks. Seems very ambitious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on project spectrum. That sounds like fun motivation.
What a neat scarf! I really like the colors too.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and soft ruffles! So pretty! Good luck on the socks... I will be rooting for you!
ReplyDeletePS : We just got a snowstorm too. But the oodles of chocolate made it at least bearable...
:D
ooooh - i saw this ruffly yarn when i was in a yarn store last week. it was so tempting. lucky Libby.
ReplyDeleteI'm so over the snow. What is UP with that?
ReplyDeleteI love those colors, they are just so...berrylicious.
Wow, the scarf looks fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteyour project colors are beautiful. hope you had a great easter.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pinks! I can't wait to see the finished items.
ReplyDeleteRuffles! What's the pattern?

So very pretty and girly!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of the ruffle yarn as a nifty little novelty scarf (or trim at the bottom of a sweater) type project, but I wouldn't have the foggiest idea of how to start it all smoothly. Yours looks great with none of the wonkiness I'd be worried about.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to finish random PS projects (and many others, sigh.) at the moment too. I had a skein of Dahlia, but it didn't look like your skein at all! I am liking the pattern you chose to pair the dahlia yarn with. And I think the scarf will be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteI love the ruffles, and oooh, what socks those will be!
