winter
Friday, January 25, 2008There is no denying, I love winter. As I have said before, I love all seasons. And my favorite, is always the one I am currently in. To commemorate Shari's Winter White week, we enjoyed french onion soup, with white wine, of course. The kids had leftovers from the week.
A shot of my favorite stairs, on a walk we take often through the woods. I photograph these stairs almost every time I see them.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Knitting to commence soon, I promise.

ReplyDeleteI bet that soup smelled wonderful! I love the smell of cooking onions.
ReplyDeletei am so glad i am not the only one who loves winter! i just love cold, and snow, and short days, and christmas, and valentines day, and wearing warm clothes, etc. i just love it all! your photo of the stairs is so enchanting, and i am jealous of your dinner! yummy!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine the taste of the melted cheese on the soup...with the wine...so delicious! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat looks a cool place to walk. I have to agree, I like every season, and usually like the one we're currently in the best... until the next one comes along;)
ReplyDeleteSoup sounds yummy.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs Denise
So sweet, Leslie, that you enjoy all seasons. I now enjoy all of them (now that I don't live where it rains 9 months of the year) except when it's VERY hot in the summer---I'm a wimp when it comes to heat.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd take a photo of those stairs, too. They're very inviting.
French Onion Soup. Yum. Did you make the big crouton for the top? I love that.
Mmmm, onion soup. Though chopping all those onions must have been killer.
ReplyDeleteI love every season, too. :) I always say that I could never live anyplace that the seasons don't really change. I am sure the onions made a tasty soup!
ReplyDeleteTake you time with knitting, I am enjoying the winter white series.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think I should sell my city flat and move to someplace where there are woods like those. Simply charming, clean and quiet.
ReplyDeleteOh...I MISS French Onion Soup! Yum. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, the snow is beautiful! I'm jealous - all we've got is pouring rain, all day every day. I love your photos.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, our kids also have leftovers when we have anything 'good' for dinner!
ReplyDeletelovely! do your kids not like French Onion Soup? or does the wine not cook down enough to feel comfortable giving it to children maybe? As a child it was one thing I'd be most excited to see on a restaurant menu. I've never made it at home-- I'm definitely trying that recipe!
ReplyDeletei've really enjoyed all of your winter whites!
I love that you embrace all the seasons. I, cannot tolerate winter so I will leave that to you. I have enjoyed your winter white journey. Those stairs look like they could take you away to some mystical place.

I love winter too. This year is especially beautiful where we are. In recent years, the winters in Western Montana have been gray and brown and long. But this winter has been white for weeks! Soooo beautiful. I contributed one photo to winter white week as well. Thanks for letting us know about it!

ReplyDeleteI love those stairs! As an aside, if you're interested, I just learned this excellent tip to avoid crying while cutting onions; and since I'm helpful and housewifey that way, I'll share: wear swim goggles. It works great, and has the added benefit of making you look very sexy while doing your kitchen work!
