up next and a little cookie
Tuesday, October 09, 2007First of all, thank you so much for all of the cobblestone love. Charlie loved it too!
I have started Libby's vest. I forgot that when I bought the yarn I bought one ball of the oatmeal color. So happy with that choice, otherwise I think it would have been very dull. Since I don't have a pattern, I am changing colors when the mood strikes. And holding it up after every row, to make sure I like it. For some reason, this brings a smile to my husbands face. (?) I guess I am spending more time looking at this, then actually knitting. I have drawn the pattern (onto a paper bag) and am using that as my guideline. Keeping my fingers crossed along the way.
I can't believe that it is now the sixth week of school and I have yet to do a cookie of the week. I have been baking, but I have chosen everything. This week is Andrew's turn, and he chose, Chocolate Brownie Cookies.
Lightly grease cookie sheets (yes, you must do this).
In large bowl, combine sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla and melted chocolate. Beat until well blended. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Drop dough by heaping teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350.

Well, it is pretty mesmerizing. Gorgeous colors.
ReplyDeleteI envy that you can just go with the flow. I must have a specific pattern in front of me or I get flustered. I wish I weren't so rigid in my knitting. The vest looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are making me hungry. BTW - I gave my mom your apple cake recipe, and she just called to ask if I could fax it to her again. (Mom, not so much with the technology).
Beautiful vest, and I wish I had smellovision with your cookie photo!

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished vest. I like the colors very much. The cookies look yummy, but too many ingredients for a simple gal like me.
ReplyDeleteThe oatmeal yarn definitely brings the vest out. You now have to make some oatmeal cookies! :o)
ReplyDeletethe vest looks stunning of course! and the cookies are making my mouth water! do you make up the recipes yourself? or are they from books? i just love to bake, especially cookies...
ReplyDeleteThe vest and the cookies look wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great vest. I am anxiously awaiting a finished photo.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, do you know about using freshly ground flax seed as a substitute for eggs? Your kids will never know the difference. Google it.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I love the vest. The pattern is so pretty and I think the paper bag is a fantastic idea!!!
Very clever!
ReplyDeleteThe vest is great - and I love that you are just holding it up and deciding as you go. The cookies look fabulous - I may have to try my hand at this recipe!:)
ReplyDeleteI love that you are playing the vest by ear. What a thoughtful way of choosing colours. You put a lot of love into your knits.
ReplyDeleteWhere do the kids choose their cookies from?
The vest is beautiful! You're doing a great job designing and knitting it.

Love the vest. It is absolutely beautiful. Between your knitting and checking out the blogs of other knitters who post here, I get lost in just looking at beautiful work. I need to keep working on my Christmas hats, which I think I am doing wrong, but keep going anyway. Have you been knitting forever?
ReplyDeletethat vest is amazing! (along with those cookies! yum!)

Yummy cookies! Beautiful beautiful vest! The colors are mesmorizing and I love how you did the pattern. I may have to do the same!
ReplyDeleteOh Leslie, this is simply amazing! What I like are how you mingled the colors together. They work so well together.
ReplyDeleteLove the paper bag! When you have an idea anything will do. I have been known to scribble on the back of anything in my purse, the back of envelopes to a page from my checkbook register:)
Cookies with flax seeds are good for ya! Did you see Oprah yesterday? Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica came out with a new cookbook that is kid friendly. She uses fruit puree and flax seeds. A great book for both kids and the whole family. Thank you for the great recipe!
That vest looks wonderful! I've done a few sweaters the same way, and they're some of the best things I've ever done. It's very freeing and creative.
ReplyDeleteWhat an enjoyable site. I love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteThe vest looks great. I love that there isn't a certain pattern you are going by. And the cookies look great. I just might have to try them. I'm in the mood to bake.
