Tuesday, October 02, 2007I told my husband that I was tagged to do a seven facts about myself, but thought that I was too much like everyone else. He looked at me in disbelief and quickly rattled off seven or eight. 
Tagged by Hege for the seven truths.
Here are the rules:
1 Link the person who has tagged you 2. Tell 7 true things about yourself 3. Tag 7 new people
4. Leave a message with the person you have tagged so they know about it.
Here goes: (as told by my husband)
1. a germaphobic (yes, a bit I won't/don't eat off of buffets)
2. compulsive (o.k., maybe a little, i am sure you remember the ice)
3. obsessive ( aren't all knitters? O.K., I do tend to play the same song over and over, at least 250 times, whenever I find one i like, this was last weeks)
4. need quiet in the morning (yes)
5. get cold very easily (yes)
6. very laid back ( yes, it takes a lot to ruffle my feathers)
7. claustrophobic (yes, a bit, if the kids come into the bed, I have to be on the edge, but that is really not claustrophobic)

You all know I love to bake. If you don't have these ingredients, you better stop what you are doing and go get what you need. This is the absolute best. Recipe was given to me years ago by a friend at my child's preschool.
Cinnamon-apple cake:
1 1/2 cup sugar + 1/4 cup :: 1/2 c butter, softened :: 1 tsp vanilla :: 6 oz cream cheese, softened :: 2 eggs :: 1 1/2 cup flour :: 1 1/2 tsp baking powder :: 1/4 tsp salt :: 2 tsp cinnamon :: 3 cups chopped, peeled rome apples, or any (2 large)
Preheat oven to 350. Beat 1 1/2 c sugar with butter, vanilla, and cream cheese at med speed until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture until blended. Combine 1/4 cup of sugar with cinnamon. Toss this mixture with apples. Stir apple mixture into batter. Pour batter into spring form pan coated with cooking spray. Bake for 60-70 minutes.
And on the knitting front, Charlie's cobblestone is finished.
Just waiting for an opportunity to have a photo shoot. This may take a little bribing.
My kids always ask me what I do all day when they are at school. I giggle and tell them that I play with their toys. I guess I will have to come clean with the fact that I try on their sweaters and wear their bracelets.

With the exception of #6, I think you and I may have been separated at birth. I would like to see if there is a study where the connection between OCD and knitting is explored. I can't wait to try the apple cake, and the cobble stone looks great. How many moms can *fit* into their children's clothing?! ;)

ReplyDeleteNow, i see how some peculiar traits can be similar to a certain degree with others. All but #1, we tally. Germs don't scare me that much although I don't necessarily eat off the floor etc. I get claustrophobic(sometimes)at malls and big places like that.
How fast you knit L. You will definitely finish all three sweaters before November. I guess that explains the obssessine knitting?
my son wears these bracelets - but for the life of me trying to make one like I did long ago is beyond me.. or those friendship bracelts with all my moms embroidery floss :) the cake looks delish! noted in my recipe book --thanks for posting it.
ReplyDeleteMy dh thinks I’m extreme b/c I refuse to roll-up the windows and turn on the a/c in the car – regardless of how hot it is - b/c I’m claustrophobic. Your Cinnamon-apple cake looks uber delicious. Too funny about playing with your childrens' toys when their at school.

I love your blog! The apple cake looks great can't wait to try it out on my family. The cobblestone is beautiful. I made an adult one for my SIL for Christmas, it was a very enjoyable knit. I would love to make one for my 7 year old son but I haven't progressed out of the knit strictly "by the pattern kind of gal." If you have the adjustments you made and would care to share I would be greatful. Thanks for your blogging generosity.
ReplyDeleteI DO THAT TOO! Listen to a song like 300 times before I get sick of it & stop - it drives my kids nuts. I don't have OCD though I wish I did, I wonder if it's genetic. I try to be more OCDish, but I am way too laid back about too many things, my hubby hates it.

I love to bake too! I'll have to try out that recipe on my husband - he's always looking for "snacky cakes". I just started baking him bread again... nothing better than a husband who comes into the kitchen... leading by his nose... saying "ooooo - what's THAT?!"

Ummmm, I bet your not as germaphobic as I am:) Do you bring your own little alchol spray on vacations with you to spray down everything in your hotel rooms? I do! The toliet, door knob, phone and remote control. At least I don't have to have my dad yelling at me to wash my hands when I come in from outside everytime. Do that too.

I had a lot of the same seven things. My compulsion is checking and rechecking door locks, stove elements, toilets, before leaving the house. It usually tacks on another five minutes to leaving so i can make sure everything of off and secure and not running.
