new wheels
Sunday, August 12, 2007When I came home from florida, my husband had this in the garage waiting for me!I had been wanting a new bike ever since our trip to Nemacolin. Can you say love at first sight? That saddle brown leather seat and those saddle brown grips almost put me over the edge. Yesterday I ordered a basket just like the one Angelique ordered for her new bike. I so dream that I live in a quaint little village, perhaps Nantucket, (right Keat) where I bike to the market for fresh produce, dairy and other necessities. I then wake up and remember that I live in suburbia USA and have to drive my car everywhere I go. sigh. We did load the bikes on the back of the car yesterday and drove to a location where we parked the car and could all bike together as a family. There is a path that runs along the river and leads to the city. All I could think about was that I wished I had my basket! What will I put in my basket? Knitting of course. Where will I ride? Maybe around the neighborhood. At least I will have my knitting if a neighbor gets chatty. Maybe she will offer me some vegetable's from her garden for my basket! :)

ReplyDeleteWow, a new bike! What a nice surprise. That Bob sure is a keeper. Be sure to take another photo when you get the basket. Happy Biking!
ReplyDeleteI want one now, and to live in a quaint little village too with a basket.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome new bike!
ReplyDeleteYour husband rules. So retro, love it! Aren't you glad you live in the state with 1000 bike paths??
ReplyDeletewish you were closer so we could put our knitting in our baskets and bike off for coffee and such. love your new bike!
ReplyDeleteI love it. I love the color and the seat! I always wanted a basket to put my little dog in like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat bike is so beautiful! What fun! (I never ride my bike anywhere but to school and it's too hot to really enjoy it.)
ReplyDeleteCool new bike! And I love your daughter's skirt from the previous post. I have a 7 yr old girly-girl and I simply must make this for her!
ReplyDeleteVery, very cute! Love it. I will be in the market for a new bike next summer. Can hardly wait.
ReplyDeleteThat is truly the cutest bike ever. So darling.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun new toy!! The seat and grips are perfect! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow, love that bike - very cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat bike! Hope you have loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteOMG - I was just at the Trek World bike show last night admiring the ebossed flowers in the leather seat of THIS bike - it is awesome! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSah-weet wheelz! I do love a phat tire retro cruiser.
ReplyDeleteThat's the most adorable bike ever!! I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, we're bike twins! I'm loving mine too. The east end of Pittsburgh is not exactly a Nantucket village, but I actually do ride to do lots of my errands now, something I never did on my previous bike (which I've now sold, thank you Craig's List!).
ReplyDeleteCool bike! I'd be a sucker for the leather seat and handgrips, too. I have a similar bike, but alas, no leather. And since I also live in Suburbia, I've ridden it about five times in the seven years I've had it. Sigh.
ReplyDeletei love your new bicycle. its pure beautiful! a little puppy or some bagettes would be nice in your basket... i carry groceries in mine, and library books. baskets are the best.
ReplyDeleteI wish I live in a small village too!! I love the bike, the colors are nice...mine is collecting dust somewhere in the house because I have to drive my car everywhere too!
ReplyDeleteIt WILL NOT surprise you to know that your sister walked into the Pelham bike shop last Thursday to have her bike "tuned up", looked around at the new bikes and fell in love with the very same bike that you just received. I put the bike on hold and am going back in Tuesday morning. It is so cute!!!!! I hope you got a cute little helmet to match.
ReplyDeleteP.S. The sweater fits great and I am so happy I don't have to knit it. Thanks Les!

i am so happy for you! i recall after the nemcolin trip, you were wishing your family could have more bike rides and now you guys are doing it! i love riding my bike...and as kids my mom used to ride with us to get ice cream, the library, or on trails...great memories...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bike! Congratulations! Are you going to name her?
ReplyDeleteI don't bike ride but THAT bike would make me bike ride. Lovely. It is so fresh and just, wow! Leather seat and handgrips and the green with the tan, man that is sharp. Hope you have a great ride everytime!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous bike! Once, while I was in Ireland, I saw a similar bike outside a little shop - apparently you could call the shop and they'd send out a bike delivery person with whatever you needed. It was a 7-11 type of shop, and the bike had a hand-painted sign on it that aptly read "Munchies."
ReplyDeleteAnywho, love the bike!!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteI envy your bike, but I enjoy my own Schwinn cruiser with metal basket very much. I'm trying to convince my husband to get a cruiser, though he's got a perfectly new mountain bike already...
ReplyDeleteIt cracks me up, though, that your sister has also set her eyes on the same bike -- like the shoes, jeans, and everything else in life you all buy without realizing the other has it. Maybe you were meant to be twins, and have that twin telepathy thing going on!
Anyway, love your bike, and the basket [totally ready for wine and a baguette like it said]!
So jealous of your cute bike!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bike.. can't wait to see your basket.
ReplyDeleteYowza, you are crazy, riding and taking pictures, yikes...I do love the new bike!
ReplyDeleteGreat bike - very cool!

luv your bike! has that retro feel. yah does make me want to ride on it to the bakery to get some french loaves.
ReplyDeleteoooo, nice new wheels!! I was just ogling a very similar bike while we were at the beach, thinking how cute it was and how I could somehow strap all these little people onto it and ride around. Then M reminded me that we do in fact live half way up a mountain, surrounded by many many other mountains and that I might make it down but make it up? pregnant? he thinks not. and I reluctantly have to agree. So I will bike vicarious (sp?) through you--have fun!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting. I haven't been on a bike in at least 10 years? Wow.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a cool gal. I get excited for you!
She's a beaut! Love the color.
