one for her, one for me
Saturday, July 21, 2007 I recently purchased this Classic Elite Four Seasons (love it) for a project (haven't started) and had a few extra skeins. After receiving this book through a book signing at the TNNA show, I decided to cast on for this skirt and let it be my pool project. Mindless knitting in the round, perfect for the pool.
Of course, it will be for Libby. A yellow ruffle? Not sure how that will look, but that is what Libby wants.
This is one of my favorite tops purchase from Old Navy. It inspired me to look for a knit top similar to this. Unfortunately, I have had zero luck finding a pattern, so decided to play will my own needles, yarn and tape measure.

the skirt will be fabulous, I'm sure. Classic Elite should absolutely hire you; you could knit their samples! good luck with the tiered tank top -- so far, so good!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is adorable! I am sure Libby will love it. Your top is coming along great. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeletelibby has great style, so i am sure the skirt will be cute. that book looks like fun stuff! maybe if libby starts a kids knitting club they can use it too!
ReplyDeletedid charlie get his harry book? i was deliriously giddy when i went to get mine! i practically skipped home!
Libby must be a little fashion plate. How adventurous you are to make your own top like that. The last thing I designed was a doll blanket circa 1973.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, mindless knitting - I always need to have one of those going!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to try a knitted skirt. I bet this will be so cute for Libby!
I'm excited to see how your 'experiment' progresses. Looks great so far!
Thanks!
Jill
Yay for using 90s stash! Kudos for striking out on your own and designing that top. It's something that I'm usually not intrepid enough to do...not with the knitting, anyway.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm impressed with how it's going so far! Looks pretty good to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that even Jane might wear that skirt! It really is cute! Your top will be great I am sure...that is, once it's not so purple!

ReplyDeleteHey Bahama Mama, the 'bra top' is pretty styling too. You are so adventurous. How do you know what you are doing in terms of designing the top? I want to do stuff like that!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I can't wait to see how both turn out!
ReplyDeletehaving only knit two things in my life ... your skills/speed/style amaze me. looking forward to the end products. for sure.

ReplyDeletecute skirt - I think the yellow goes quite well. the purple tank looks great so far - a lot of the tanks these days in the knitwear mags have lace bottoms - lots of possibilities!
ReplyDeleteYellow.... my FAVORITE color.. :).. I'm sure the skirt will be Libby's favorite.
ReplyDeleteLove the color choice for the skirt. Your knit version of the old navy top is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you make things work....the skirt colors, designing top, you and Libby exchanging great ideas.....
ReplyDeleteUhhh, so old...from the 90s...in the same sentence? Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteI am truly impressed by your start on the old navy copy. Can't wait to see it finished. And I love the skirt.
Finally some bulky yarn! Great! I am a fellow bulky knitter. I love to do simple quick projects with fat needles. View my yarns and items I have made at my shop: http://summerlandfibers.etsy.com. Read my fiber processing methods at: http://summerlandfibers.wordpress.com. I am a fiber rancher and fiber artist. Would love feedback!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of the skirt and I can't wait to see the top!
