time alone
Sunday, July 01, 2007Bob took the boys to play nine holes. Libby went for a sleep over. Time alone in my house, YIPPEE! However, it took me an hour and a half to complete 1 row. Decrease 28 stitches evenly across while using smaller needles and changing to K1, P1. Sounds simple enough. Then why my fine friends did it take me all of that precious time! AHHH! I ended up charting it, and then charting it again, and again, and again. Yes, 4 times.
Anyhow, this is what is currently on my needles. The seaside sweater from Twinkle's Big City Knits. Thought I had better show it before I finish it. It really is a fast knit.
Happy Sunday!

Don't feel bad--sometimes things like spacing out buttonholes or dividing stitches evenly can drive you crazy. It's still so nice to have that alone time to concentrate and renew.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at some of the Twinkle yarn last week. There are some really pretty pinks and blues. Tempting...

ReplyDeletemanage to make even simple things positively difficult. Like my most recent FO. I ripped out so many times because I failed to remember what brackets mean. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to see this finished. I am so curious about this book. Is this a summery top? or fall/winter?
Glad you had some you time! Isn't is grand?
So happy you had some alone time ~ can't wait to see the finished sweater.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I keep seeing patterns on your blog that I've passed right over because they just don't catch my eye... the summertime tunic, for example...and you make them look so great! The seaside sweater is already looking good... can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteTime alone is such a wonderful thing. Especially when you have kids!
one of my favorite things is time alone in my own house! hope you enjoyed yourself once you got the knitting on track.
ReplyDeleteThe Seaside Sweater looks scrumptious... while working on the summertime tunic... I must of counted my stitches... at least 4 times... I kept loosing count... and it was necessary to get the total count in order to begin dividing the front/back... uggh! Alone time is so refreshing... although my babies are 19... its always a joy when I'm home alone, I get a break from Ma!!!!! or Honey!!!! where is this or that....lol
ReplyDeleteOOOO, alone time!!! Can't wait to see how the sweater turns out.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your blog inspired me to do Cookie of the Week with my daughter. I just posted about our first 2 weeks along with a contest at my blog and mentioned your blog...in case you want to pop over. :)
ooooo, I have that book and haven't started anything yet but am looking forward to. That top is so cool!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the finished piece!

I am the frogging queen. Sorry you are having trouble.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very pretty mix of colours.
that is so cute! sometimes that is the hardest thing - decreasing evenly! seems so simple, but it so isn't!!
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is going to be so amazing! Wow! and maybe you were tired, or distracted by having the house to yourself, but at least you chart, I try to do it in my head, it gets ugly. I am off to read you posts that i have missed...
ReplyDeletestick with it - I'm sure it will be worth all the effort :)
ReplyDeleteThis happens to me all the time too, those numbers, they just don't behave :)
ReplyDeleteI can'ty wait to see it done, don't you love a little time alone, I know I do! Pretty color!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I have been there. It is not really being in the "zone". More like the "anti-zone" where you have no idea how so much time has gone by with so little to show for it...
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is darling...Can't wait to see more. (The colors are especially fab.)
The top is going to be gorgeous! That would actually have probably gotten to me too....charting it is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sometimes those little "knitting blocks" just happen. But who cares how long the row took - it come out right in the end!! :)
ReplyDeletesomething tells me that this might be a finished object even as i type this! can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteYippee is right! I love it when I get the house to myself!

ReplyDeleteyou deserve to have some time alone.
Keep knitting. I am dying to see the finished product.

Glad it worked out in the end - but it's always a bummer when it takes you longer than you think it should. :)
